This is a pretty well managed hostel. Clean, good services. It is a reformed hotel though, which always detracts from the close knit hostel vibes you get in other places. Place is huge. No real lounge area, but but a good on-site bar, and well priced.

Comfy beds, great kitchen, good lounge area. But: locker shortage, & staff I talked to weren't knowledgeable of the area. Had to go to a website, which brings me to their wifi... utterly terrible. It's not helped by the access page they push either, presumably so you agree to the T&Cs you will never read. The T&C access wall came up over and over again too, so it is hard to know if you can't load anything because their network is just that bad, or you need to accept the T&Cs again. Usually both.

Pretty good hostel. Nice lounge area with a fireplace. Friendly staff. But you need to manually lock the room doors, which ends up being the same as having no lock. Also the personal lights next to the beds are insanely bright to the point where you can't use them at all, they each have a strip of 20 LEDs where only one would do. The only time I can think you would use them is if an army of vampires attacked you... But overall I would happily stay again.

Ok for a night but I wouldn't really want to stay much longer, especially because there were no lockers, and there was the sound of running water in the wall of my room. Power plugs not near beds.

WiFi is pretty rubbish. There is a shortage of power sockets in the rooms and they aren't near the beds. Metal bunks aka noisy bunks. Key deposit is £20, which is the highest I have seen in all of Europe. Staff are friendly. Rooms are clean. Not a bad hostel but they could do better.

This hostel is pretty good. Name is quite ironic though; average age at this hostel was much higher than anywhere else I've ever stayed. Old men drying their underpants on the windowsill in my room, and old ladies playing scrabble in the lounge. Wasn't really a problem for me, but it should be mentioned for those who want a younger vibe. The shower literally had no water pressure in my room, but this wasn't the norm and should be fixed soon. 15 min to train station. Good spread for breakfast.

Thanks for your review, We have plumbers looking into the water pressure for that room as we speak and, I am pleased you had a great stay here overall. See you soon!

No wifi in the rooms, which is pretty pathetic for a modern hostel. Pod beds are almost perfect, I love the solid wooden frame, curtains, light/power and the large shelf area, but they are a little let down by the lumpy/springy matresses. Under bed lockers are huge. Excellent location for train, castle and town. Staff are pretty friendly. Seemed to be a low atmosphere as there is no inviting lounge/chill area, just a dining room, and sofas right next to reception. Maybe just timing though.

Friendly owner who goes out of her way to check things are ok for you. Location is handy to bus, train, and a short walk to the main town. A little shop area with take-out, pubs etc is only a 3 min walk away. No locker in my room, but it wasn't an issue as I luckily had the room to myself :) Would happily stay again.

Under bed lockers require extra large padlocks which don't fit normal ones. But the hostel coincidently sells ones that fit!!!1!1!! (they of course don't rent them... So you either end up with two padlocks, are risk not locking your stuff up). They sell USB adapters for a few euro which is handy, but they are very cheap 1A ones which are suuuuper slow at charging. Decent breakfast for decent price, and pod beds are great. Location is a little out of the way, but the Paris tube makes it easy.

View Property Reply

We are sorry that our lockers don't take small padlocks, we have them for sale at reception for any emergency but there is many stores around that you can get some as well ! Thank you for your feedback. and enjoy the rest of your travels.

Good hostel. Nice outdoor area and I met some cool people. I left some stuff behind and staff posted it back to me for postage cost which was nice. Lockers have a bit of a security issue which I mentioned to the staff, and the rooms could do with more powerpoint locations (in my room only two of eight beds had power next to the beds, which is actually why I left stuff behind! I stupidly forgot to check the powerpoint on the otherside of the room when I left). Staff were very friendly on arrival.

I experienced a GREAT atmosphere while here, and it is well located to bus, train and town. But the facilities suck; this wifi here was utterly terrible, it doesnt extend into every room, it is super slow and sometimes won't work all. It took me over an hour to search for and book two busses. Management clearly don't care about it either, as even some of the staff seemed sick of it. No kitchen, just a microwave and an old fridge. The door to my room didn't close. Shower head broken. Needs work.

This place is awsome! Bunks are excellent, and the individual curtain is a really good idea. In some hostels when common areas are far away from the bedrooms it usually means no one is there, but this place is so tidy, well designed and furnished it is a natural hub for people to hang out. Only negative is the common room furniture was clearly chosen for aesthetic only: chairs and benches are really uncomfortable if you sit for too long (even with the cushions). Would stay again for sure though.

Good value. Owner is nice enough, but make sure you have cash on arrival, as you MUST pay upfront (even for multi-night stays...). Also it is not really a hostel in the true sense. Common area doubles as a bedroom, and no kitchen - but it is well located, WiFi is decent, and the attached bar makes it easy to grab a beer. Would probably stay again if in the area.

Awesome hostel with fantastic staff. This is a small 11 bed hostel, so it's very intimate. Only negative is the hostel welcomes couples who want to book one of the three multi-bed rooms for themselves, which detracts from the atmosphere; if couples want to keep to themselves they should go to a hotel... boring. Everything else is 10/10. Air con. Good wifi. Living room guitar. Free shots. Most relaxing and chill hostel I have ever stayed in. Heaps of space in the rooms. Comfy beds. Loved my stay!

Not a bad experience, but two nights was enough. ZeroOne is a nice enough guy, but has a tendency to exaggerate a war that needs no exaggerations. Talking about "cannibals" when asked about the food shortage was a little absurd. Educational? I expect balanced and supported facts rather than wild anecdotes(?) designed to shock people. Documentaries in the bomb shelter is an excellent touch, and ZeroOne and his family have worked hard on this place. No regrets, just make sure you get other POV's.

Loved this hostel. A small journey from the station, and the provided instructions are a little confusing, but it is totally worth it. Two minute walk to the bush. Staff are good. Goat is great. And it seems to attract really awesome people. Security is a small issue as I didn't have a locker, but it doesn't breed the kind of atmosphere where I was worried about it. This place is ok, but it seems to lack an atmosphere because the rooms are on the top floors and the social area is on the ground, so you don't really see anyone beyond your bunk mates, and some little things like closing the balconies at ten pm and the foosball table costing money implies they aren't encouraging it either. I do like a place with a beer fridge though so that's nice.
