Pros: Good wifi, spacious 12 bed dorms, breakfast was good, next to the witches market - good location. Nice staff. Cons: Can't check in early after a long bus and no where warm to chill, you have to sit in the outside bit. Cold showers (ask to switch hot water on)- it really does "dampen" your mood. They have a small kitchen ONLY for the staff to use, which is a joke. They outsource but laundry is expensive here! Just go down the street instead cos we spent 75b (more spenny than Aus & NZ).

I have to say... when I booked it I was expecting a lot better with such a high rating. However, it is mainly the bedrooms and toilets/showers that let it down. The staff, the location and the security are all 10/10. The common area is fine & breakfast basic but free so no complaints! We went for a private and it just needs a revamp as it's old and rusty (the toilet seat is squeeshy haha). The room was ridiculously cold but I asked reception for a portable heater & they gave me one :)

Location is ok - depends what you want as it's only 10 min walk from the city. But I think Palermo is a better area to stay in for nightlife etc. Zero atmosphere here which is a shame. The walking tours they do are good :). I would keep most of your food in your room cos my (labelled) box of eggs were stolen from the fridge. Rooms were nice & clean but I was on the 4th floor & the pics on here look better. In a 4 bed dorm & showers were TINY...curtain is constantly on you. Staff were friendly:)

If you're a couple or just fancy a private room, DEFO stay here :). We had a private double and its kitted out with Netflix, kettle, coffee/tea/hot choc, a fridge, desk etc. Such great value for money as divided by 2 it's cheaper than most hostels. That being said, it is quite far away from the city centre - about a 25min walk. To be honest, I rate it's worth it for your own time just to chill, have a cuppa and watch Netflix in a really nice/modern room 😊. Airport shuttle too!

We stayed here twice! Before doing the Deep South & after. It's standard price, perfectly located on the lakefront, amazing views from the kitchen whilst sipping on free coffee/tea/hot choc. Really modern & clean. We stayed in a 4 bed & 6 bed. Both are good but 4 bed has a fridge and the bottom bed on the bunk is a double which is fab! We had ensuite but even the shared showers are amazing!! We loved it here :) staff are really nice too! Recommend doing the Queenstown hill walk, fabulous views.

A good place to rest your head. It's a very summery looking hostel and not that close to the main village (only a 10/15min walk away though). Close to pak n save/warehouse which is always good. It was clean enough, I think we just had some smelly guys in our room. It's a shame they don't do any activities or anything as the atmosphere is at an all time low! Fine for a few nights though.

I think this is a fabulous hostel for Auckland. I say for Auckland because it isn't that social but it's perfectly functional! I stayed in a nice & clean 4 bed dorm! It's also one of the cheaper hostels in Auckland and it's got unlimited wifi. Bathroom & showers also clean! Really loved how big the kitchen was too! Defo stay here :)

You pay for what you get. There are multiple different houses for dorms. We were in one down the street, a few minutes walk away. We had an outdoor shower which closed but also had loads of ants at the top. You're also kind of stuck unless you're doing Island hopping as there's nothing to do/no where to cook so you have to get food there or nearby which are all quite expensive. I recommend Grace's kitchen (Asian restaurant) down the road. I think Smugglers is better. The staff were fab here tho.

Pippies Beach House Rainbow Beach, Rainbow Beach, Australia

Unfortunately all the hostels in Rainbow beach are pretty expensive. I don't think it's good value for money. This hostel is fine for a 1 night stopover (which we did) but wouldn't stay here or in Rainbow beach any longer, small town/not much to do/not much going on. If you can, I'd skip out Rainbow beach all together and go Noosa instead for longer!

Free shuttle to pick you up and drop off from the bus station/ferry port (same place). Free water from reception. Not much to do in Townsville so probs best to just stay for one night. Good price. Not great for meeting people tho!

Definitely stay here!!! Such great value for money in comparison to other hostels. Free breakfast (pancakes/cereal/toast & spreads), free WiFi, hairdryers & straighteners in rooms, really clean and spacious, huge tv in common area with Netflix/Fifa/COD. Easy to mingle. Easy to sleep as it’s not loud/party etc. PERFECT location as it’s on the waterfront so 5 mins away from the reef terminal and the greyhound bus stop, also 5 mins from Woolworths! We ended up staying an extra night :) xx

We absolutely loved our stay here! We went for a private room ensuite as it worked out similar price as dorms. It’s pure luxury for a hostel! Bed was huge and comfortable, showers powerful & hot, water bottles left in the room, towels left on bed to use - need I say more😍! Also helpful guy on reception who booked us on a van to the airport :). Not a great social scene here & a 25 min walk to the main strip but we enjoy exploring round. Many taxi tuk tuks around to get if not :) DEFO book here💖

It’s very average & isn’t anything but a room to sleep in. However, it is also one of the cheaper hostels on the island & not really that bad if you’re going to just use it as a bed. It’s a bit of a walk away from the main strip beach bit but that’s a good thing as the noise would have been crazy! The air con was good and showers/toilets are downstairs but they’re alright. It’s fine for a couple nights! I defo recommend doing the blanco boat party as that’s been the highlight of our trip so far!

Nice, modern hostel with a really relaxed/laid-back atmosphere. Staff were really helpful, rooms clean, beds comfy, showers hot (but I switched it to cold as it’s so hot there). Really good location as it’s just a side street off one of the main streets. The only negative is the air con didn’t work very well in our room which they did fix on our 2nd night & the air con only comes on after 5pm so it’s quite stuffy as the fan just blows hot air! Great pool & value for money tho!

We got to check in a little earlier to put our bags in the room & use the showers whilst our beds were being made, which was fab after a long sleeper bus! The pool area was really nice, food a bit pricey but we enjoyed the penne bolognese! The biggest let down for us was it’s location. It felt really unsafe wandering the streets near there & not near the other backpackers hostels so we took the tuk tuk there. Very chilled atmosphere so not easy to make friends but good if you want a chilled one.

Not the friendliest of staff, I came from a hostel where they were really smiley & happy to go above & beyond for you. Here, they don’t even take you to your room & when there’s building work going on below the stairs next door where you go up, it was a little confusing. Everywhere in this hostel is extremely hot (no air con) the rooms are okay with the fans. The beds were fine, showers cold - but in this place that’s exactly what you want. 2 toilets between 48 people - needed cleaning more.

Couldn’t possibly mark such a great team down! The staff remember your name, make conversation with you and really look after you! Fabulous one night stopover in Nha Trang! 100% recommend doing the family dinner - you get so much food and definitely worth the money! Rooms are okay, do the job (bit outdated) but the customer service is the best I’ve experienced yet!

Really amazing hostel! More like a hotel, it’s so modern & spacious. Really comfy beds, great food, fab showers & the staff are always cleaning which kept the place looking amazing! Also special shout out to Dan in particular who really helped us with our plans to get to Ho Chi Minh (as we left it a bit late with it being tet etc)! Wouldn’t get your laundry done here though as not only did my boyfriend lose 3 items but we heard from others it’s a common occurrence - they did refund him though.

Thank you for the positive feedback. We're happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and appreciated the help at our friendly travel desk. Will be sure to pass on your kind comments to Dan as I know he'll appreciate it. As for your comments about our laundry service, I can assure you this does not happen often and that we've fed back to our supplier. Hope you're still traveling and that we see you again some day. This place is a ghost town until 4:35am when the tourists arrive on the bus. After ringing on the desk bell, front lady at reception allowed us to check us in to the room BUT this came at a $5 price. The room was clean but beds were hard with only a thin sheet to cover yourself. Which in this cold town, you need more! Stay at easytiger if you want atmosphere/social aspect. Was ok for a stopover. The trip up to the caves/motorbike taxi was well worth the visit though.

Really fab hostel from the moment you walk in I was in awe of how great the atmosphere was! I’m travelling with my boyfriend and we made loads of new friends but even if you are travelling solo - this is the place for you!!! So so so easy to talk to people & make friends here! Also things I look for which I really liked is the free breakfast, the clean drinking water pumps on every floor, hot & powerful showers & comfy beds! We’ve now booked Vietnam backpackers in Hoi An too :) xx
