Nice Way Sintra, Sintra, Portugal
8.3
9th Aug 2018

On Hostelworld, Nice Way Sintra is described as 'set in a renovated ancient palace'. They FAIL TO MENTION that there is a 1970s style building two doors down that they use as an annex. This is where we stayed. I was very disappointed about this and felt I was cheated out of my palace stay. The internet didn't reach our room in the annex. However, the main area in the main hostel was great, and very social. It was full of cool people. Double check your building accommodation before you go.

Dear guest, thank you so much for the visit, and for writing this comment. We're terribly sorry, it was the first time we realized that our Hostelworld description didn't mention the apartments since it was the first time we got a complaint about it. Please do contact us directly if you return to Sintra and we'll make sure to book a room in the hostel for you.

PLUS Berlin, Berlin, Germany

PLUS Berlin is like a hostel on steroids. It's super big and has a huge restaurant and courtyard. It is definitely for a younger, more partying type crowd. Our window faced the courtyard and although it is technically closed at night, there were ALWAYS drunk, loud (and sometimes obnoxious) people out there smoking, which filled our room with smoke smell. Also there is no AC and no fans, so if it's hot you will be uncomfortable. If you want to party, then it's for you.

This place was pretty good. It was quiet and a nice place to rest. It has a comfortable kitchen/living room with a balcony that looks out onto the high street. It's a good place to get some rest and relax if you have been on the road for awhile, and is around the corner from the buses that will take you to all the touristic options, such as Morskie Oko.

This place was a mixed bag. We had a great room with a view of Wawel Castle and a gorgeous garden. But it is LOUD. LOOOOOUD. And when I say it's loud, I mean it's only loud between the hours of 11pm and 2am, so don't plan on sleeping much. The place is full of young, partying types. If that is your bag, then this is the place for you. I should have known when there were earplugs awaiting us in the room. You've been warned.

View Property Reply

Thank you for the review! We are glad that you liked the view from our hostel. We are sorry about the inconvenience with loud people. Our receptionists check quietly on building many times at night but sometimes it is really hard. In spite of that, we hope you had a pleasant stay in Cracow!

Pros: This is place was central, clean, and definitely had airtight security. Cons: We were late for checkin because we missed a train and there was no one there to receive us. Since we had no WiFi connection it was a complete mess trying to get ahold of someone. When we finally checked in we realized that they have no staff on duty at this place, and only have someone come to do checkin. The guy who checked us in had some pretty bad vibes. The place had ZERO vibes.

View Property Reply

Hello, I`m so sorry this old house has no vibes. However you shouldn`t be so sensitive to vibes, but more careful when reading the booking conditions. It`s claerly written there that the reception is external and works until 21:00. Later arrival must be agreed with the property in advance. Regards, Rudy Manager

This place get a mixed review from me. Pool and garden are great. Location is good. The staff is "eh" at best. The rooms are awful. We had to make up our own beds and the mattress were so old and dirty that I didn't want to touch anything in the room. The shower was broken, and towels were not provided. Were were on the 4th floor and WiFi didn't reach our room, so you had to be in the garden for it. If you're traveling and on a budget, a couple of nights here won't kill you.

I really liked this place, and our hosts George and Margarita where great. The breakfast was fantastic and the location is central to the beach and then town. I though it was a bit pricey for the facilities, and there isn't much atmosphere here, but still a nice place to stay. The shower was SUPER SMALL. Otherwise, if you want a weekend in Constanta this is a good option.

Loved this place! Actually, the hostel is better than the city of Bucharest itself. It's a great place to stay if you've been on the road for awhile and just need a week to recharge. There is a lounging tent outside, with a bar that serves food and drinks. The staff is great, and it's clean. There are cats that live there if you are a cat lover. The only annoyance was not being able to wear shoes in the house (although it served for clean floors I suppose). Otherwise, highly recommended!

View Property Reply

Hi, Thank you for the great review! The garden and location is definitely a destination that many locals and travelers love. As for the shoes, it is to keep the house and bedrooms clean for everyone since we have a large garden space outside. The same goes for our arabic tent:)

I loved this little hostel! It was homey and comfortable, and full of great people. Kristy, the woman working there, was great. So nice, helpful, and attentive (and literally there 24/7). The location is central, and they can arrange excursions for you. Very nice!

Positives: Great location, great staff (especially Hugues, who went above and beyond to help us figure out how to get to Beauvais Airport at 4am), and a clean room. There is laundry. Negatives: The shared bathrooms facilities on our floor were GROSS. The toilet was always a disaster, and the shower had black mold and looked like it was never cleaned. Our room also faced the airshaft, which was a nightmare, as you can hear every word of every other person in the place until very, very late.

This place was ok. The owners were really cool, but unfortunately I was sick the day I was there and wanted to sleep, which was impossible because THE SOUND CARRIES EVERYWHERE. All I could here were these annoying German guys for hours and hours. Besides that, totally doable.

This place had a cool vibe. It´s located in the downtown area and is super laid back. The staff was really cool, but it wasn´t the cleanest place ever, and also didn´t have anywhere to lock up valuables. They do, however, have a great DVD selection. You just have to walk a couple of block to the bus to go to the beach.. Super easy.
