Functional for a night close to the airport/bus station. Clean dorm, towels provided, decent shower. Strange entry to the dorm up what feels like a fire escape! Kitchen was in pretty poor condition.

We kept extending our stay here as we loved Baños! Lovely hostel with 2 kitchens, good showers, very clean, and the owner was super patient with my Spanish and made herself really easy to understand. Lacked a comfortable common area so the vibe was a little that people kept to themselves but a great hostel overall.

Nice, clean and large room. Lovely breakfast with eggs to order. Atmosphere lacked whilst we were there but you could tell it would be a fun hostel in a busier time, there were day trips and evening stuff organised every day.

Hostel Masaya Santa Marta, Santa Marta, Colombia

Beautiful hostel but comparatively expensive for the area. You're paying for the common areas here (which are great) but we were disappointed that our 6-bed dorm was so small, hot and dark. Regardless, I'd stay again as the atmosphere was brilliant. Get your laundry done elsewhere as they charge an extortionate COP 25,000 per bag!

Hi , thanks for your comment and for choosing us for your stay in the city, we are very happy that you liked the hostel and its services. About the Laundry we are already working to change the size of bag for washing more clothes for the same price, We hope to see you soon at the Masaya hostels. Kind Regards John - Front Office Manager

Good value for Cartagena, and the food in the bar was reasonably priced. Very nice vibe. Air con!! :)

Maybe the nicest hostel we've stayed in! Really nice rooms and common areas, 2 big and well-equipped kitchens, plenty of bathrooms with good showers, kept very clean. Juan Pablo was really helpful and let us check in at 7am after our night bus. Breakfast not included but quite cheap. 2km (uphill!) from the bus station but the area seemed nicer at this end of town

Definitely more a family home than a hostel, which sometimes makes for an awkward atmosphere, you have to buzz in/out which feels like you're constantly inconveniencing them. Check out means check out!! We came back at 6pm for our bags and wanted to stay 1 hr before getting our night bus and it was quite clear that this wasn't welcome. But a very nice family home, nice rooms and common areas (although not used by anyone whilst we were there), great showers. We preferred the area to Candelaria.

Paracas Backpackers House, Paracas, Peru

Nice hostel, well kept with good common areas. We did the Reserva Nacional tour through the hostel which we thought was a good price (20 Soles + park entrance) but the sights were a bit underwhelming and they take you to a very over priced area for lunch. In all honesty we didn't rate Paracas at all and wouldn't stop here again. But if you choose to, this is a pretty good hostel!

Park Hostal, Arequipa, Peru

Loved this hostel and loved Arequipa. I don't normally get excited about furniture but, after weeks of keeping my stuff on the floor, it felt like a real luxury to have a few shelves and plenty of hooks in the room! Showers took a little while to heat up but then did get very hot. Lovely terrace which would be great during a busier time, unfortunately it was very quiet whilst we were there which is why I scored it a little low on atmosphere.

Booked a double en-suite and were given a small apartment for the same price :) Included our own kitchen, which was great, but the shared kitchen was tiny and old. Showers not bad, consistently warm but not hot. Atmosphere was good, always a few people milling about in the bar/courtyard area and a nice little rooftop terrace (although all but 1 chair was broken!). Cleaned daily. Short walk to the main plaza and bars/restaurants. Close to Fenix Spanish School, which I recommend

Double room was veru spacious and shared bathroom was clean with hot showers, which is all that really mattered after our 3 day jeep tour! Breakfast was quite good with yoghurt and cereal, bananas, and hot drinks. There is a shared kitchen but no fridge so you can't really cook for yourself if staying more than 1 night. Very centrally located, you'll see the sign easily from the street but just note that you have to walk through a small market corridor to get there.

We had a great time in this hostel, mostly because the overall vibe is very chilled and the other people staying there were very social. Some cons...kitchen and utensils were a little dirty and the sink is not in the kitchen, hot water was very patchy (although some people got luckier than me with that), no reception so could be difficult to find staff when you needed something.

The guy who let us in seemed in a rush to get rid of us - didn't properly show us around or give us the wifi and we had to ask 3 times for sheets. That being said, I did see him doing all this for someone else who checked in the following evening so maybe he was just having a bad day! 6 bed dorm was spacious with a good sized en suite and decent showers. Reasonably social vibe. The directions say it's only 10 blocks from the bus station but it's actually a 2km walk!

Nice hostel - helpful staff, plenty of showers, well equipped and sizeable kitchen. We opted for less of a walk from the bus station which meant that it was a little further to some of the other things but it's close to shops/supermarket etc. We booked a wine and bike tour from the hostel which took us to 3 great wineries (if you go to Familia Cecchin first, buy something from there as it's the cutest little family run place) but the cycling is just along main roads which was a bit disappointing

Really close to the start of most of the day treks, which was great, and the atmosphere was pretty social. Bathrooms could be better if cleaned more frequently and, downstairs, only 1 of the 2 female showers actually worked (although not a big issue in low season, I never had to queue for a shower). WiFi was really slow.

As others have said, this hostel lacks a bit of buzz but there were 3 bathrooms and 2 kitchens for what is quite a small hostel, so never any fights for utensils or long queues for showers! Being so close to the location was handy and only a 10 min walk from Lago Argentino.

We had a double "en suite" but the bathroom was actually separate to the bedroom. You had your own key to a toilet and separate shower room so it was private but not quite what I'd call en suite! Bedroom was very basic but big. Atmosphere was pretty friendly with a few different places to hang out.

Agree with previous comments that the vibe is more of a hotel than a hostel but we were only there 1 night so it was fine for what we needed. Pros: Clean and modern rooms with a good shower, friendly and helpful staff, right across the street from buses to the airport/falls. Cons: Not much around it (seemed to be more eating places etc as we were driving through the start of town), and the afore mentioned atmosphere.
