Property Description

The Rennes youth hostel is a property with the charm of old traditional buildings and bourgeois hotels. It has a large garden where it is pleasant to enjoy the first rays of the sun, to share a drink with travelers. We are located near the old part of the city of Rennes, on the edge of the Saint-Martin canal, opposite a lock, less than 10 minutes walk from the nearest metro. The Rennes youth hostel is also very close to the Parc des Tanneurs, a corner of greenery on the banks of the Island. Via the V42, cycle tourists can reach the Pontivy youth hostel. Have breakfast in the garden of the youth hostel, under a ray of sunshine. Watch the barges pass the canal lock located just in front of the Youth Hostel. Discover the heritage of Rennes, capital of Brittany, and its nearby city center. Taste Breton gastronomic specialties: buckwheat pancakes or kouign amann. Accommodation in rooms with 1 to 4 beds. self-service, bar-cafeteria, TV room.

Nice place to stay. Helpful staff. Very good continental breakfast. We had bikes and they locked them in a secure indoor room. All good.

The staff is super nice and helpful. There were some problems when I arrived but they fixed it immediately. The rooms are not very modern but at least I had a locker for my things. The room and the bathrooms weren't perfectly clean but still ok. The breakfast was a bit disappointing since there was only a croissant, a pain au chocolate and sometimes a baguette. It takes around 15min with the bus from the train station to the hostel. Unfortunately I didn't feel very safe in the surrounding area.

The best part of this hostel is the breakfast, which is fresh and includes local products. The staff are friendly and it’s nice to be so close to the water. However, the first night the fire alarm went off multiple times in the middle of the night. They ask guests not to smoke in the room, but if someone disobeys it should not set off the alarm for the whole building. Additionally, there was no fan in the bathroom in my room and every time someone used the shower the bathroom reeked.

I should’ve read the reviews first. To start, I booked an all female room and was given a mixed one instead. The hallway was so dark that I needed my phone flashlight to see anything (at midday). The lockers were tiny and couldn’t fit regular size suitcases; the bottom shelf of one also collapsed are while I was there. Don’t stay here. This is the first time I’ve given a bad review on hostelworld, but this place was bad. The shower and multiple toilets were broken, the rooms and linen were dirty, the lock on the door was broken, there were no lights in the hallway, and they closed the common areas so you couldn’t hang out there. I didn’t feel safe there and if the other hostel in Rennes had availability I would have left. There is no way the reviews giving this place a 9 are real, they have to be from staff.

Fine for passing thru for a night. Definitely a weird vibe. Tons of older men. As a woman I felt a bit uncomfortable. Wi-Fi didn't work at all. Kinda felt like a ratchet old folks home. Rooms were small. Bed was comfy tho.

This is one of the worst hostels at which I have ever stayed in Europe. The rooms were unbearably stuffy, the Wi-Fi was terrible, they had way too few power outlets in the rooms, there were not enough lockers for the number of beds, some of the toilets were missing seats, people had food stolen from the fridge, there was no real space to relax or socialize... It seemed as though the management had simply given up. On the plus side, it was dead easy to find, and it is close to the city centre.
