This was the best hostal experience I have ever had in my life. Gilf and his wife are INCREDIBLE!! They made me and my friends feel at home, I can’t say thank you enough!! The hostal is clean, the water is very warm, the beds are comfy and Gilf is an amazing human being. We did laguna 69 hike all day and we had our bus back to Lima after. Gilf gave us the room to shower and treated us like their own sons! Please stay with them!!

This was a great place to stay. It’s quiet, non-smoking, and very clean. It’s located on the edge of Huaraz, so a 20 minute walk from town or 5 minute taxi ride, no big deal for us. There are plenty of mom and pop local restaurants nearby and even a fancy Don Cuy to feast at after a trek. The hostel just reopened, post-COVID, so my friend and I were the only guests. What’s not to love about a family owned hostel? Everyone was extremely welcoming and super informative. I really enjoyed my stay here and would recommend it to anyone. The host is insanely knowledgeable about the trekking in the area and about Huaraz itself, ask any question and he will have the answers! You can take a colectivo/taxi to and from the center of town to the hostel itself. I stayed a few extra nights because of the current protests and they were more than accommodating.

I was very well looked after here whilst I was ill. Maruja and the other staff were incredible and so helpful. Breakfast is simple but good. It’s not in central Huaraz but Maruja explained the colectivos and it is very easy to get to the centre. It was very quiet when I was here but breakfast was social when there were other people there. They let me check in early morning from my night bus and stay late till my bus when leaving, which was so helpful. Could not recommend the people here enough, felt like ho

Great hostel, with big kitchen and comfy beds. The hosts were really friendly, gave great information and organised our tours of the Huascarán National Park. I was even greeted with birthday wishes by the whole family on the morning of my birthday! Located a little outside of the hustle and bustle of Huaraz town, which is only just a short 5 minute journey by car

Amazing atmosphere and staff! Maruja and her son were helpful and nice:) breakfast was as good as can be expected for free, there was hot water all the time (which is rare in huaraz). Overall would definitely recommend this guesthouse. The inly downside is that its 5 minutes drive away from the city center, but not an issue at all!

Brilliant stay at La casa de Maruja BB. The host was excellent, providing us with great local information and made the extra effort to have breakfast ready before an early hike. We were allowed have a shower there after the Santa Cruz trek as we left our bags there during the trek which we really appreciated. Would definitely recommend to anyone coming to Huaraz.

Staff are excellent and the owner is a guide himself, so he is great for hiking knowledge. Good kitchen and rooftop, with good communal space. It’s quite far from the main plaza so you will need a taxi each way, otherwise it’s a 45 min walk along some very bland roads

It has a hotel vibe, not a hostel vibe. Not ideal for digital nomads because the internet constantly drops. Getting hot showers is tricky since you have to turn on the sink water before using the shower and let the water warm up for 7-10 minutes. Surrounded by mechanic shops so walking to the center is a long 25-35 minute walk and pretty dirty. However, the place is very clean and has a good kitchen.
