The YHA Katoomba is an excellent base to explore the blue mountains and very easily accessible from central Sydney. The staff were very friendly and helped us plan walks. The large common room and kitchen/dining area is such a bonus. The only downside was there only being two plugs in the room, but there were plenty in the common room to use

Great hostel. The staff were without exception extremely friendly and helpful. My room (I went for a private one) had a comfy bed, and the kitchen facilities were decent (enough to cook whatever you'd want).
There's a big lounge area with loads of sofas, and a gas coal-effect (which was on for my visit in September, it's chilly at 1000m up!).
Worth mentioning for people arriving early that they'll let you leave your luggage, no need to pay for storage at that place by the station, and it's only a 10 min w
