Freehand New York offers a choice of traditional rooms or dorm style accommodations that can be booked privately. All rooms feature a private en-suite bathroom.

Freehand New York exceeded my expectations! Very affordable, high standard, and great location. The standard is like a better hotel. Small but cozy room and fresh bathroom. Close to public transport and reasonably easy to get to and from the airport. No social activities or gatherings to speak of, so it's not the right option if you want a party hostel.
Would 100% recommend it to a friend.

So as a hotel-great. Cant fault it. Clean good sized rooms and cleaned daily. The staff were mostly all great. As a hostel, i think it has dorms, lacking. No real communal areas that werent the bars/restaurants. Dont think there was a kitchen or anything like that and didnt seem to do any of the things youd hope a hostel does for guests ( tours, bar nights etc etc). Happy stayed and would 100% stay again but just something to be concious of.

Freehand is in a great location, the decor is very cool and although the super king room was smaller than expected, it was still very comfortable. I just thought the rate per night was alot so we stayed in a cheaper place for the majority of our stay but I suppose you pay for the central location. One of the staff behind the front desk was not very welcoming but the rest of the staff were lovely and hard working.
