The Magma Chamber

Welcome to The Magma Chamber!
(What else would you call a place inside a collapsed volcano crater, that advertises very hot showers?)

This is not a normal hostel - this is our home, and we live here full time. But it seemed a shame not to let other budget travelers enjoy the space, as we do.

We have basic accommodations (private). Ideal for backpacker couples or budget travelers looking to explore El Valle. Your bedroom and bathroom are standalone units with a private entrance. There is only one (double) bed in each unit. The other amenities (kitchen, dining, yard, laundry, patio areas, etc.) are shared with other guests.

We spent 7 months as budget travelers, bouncing around Panama before settling in El Valle. We tried to provide everything we considered vital during our travels:

Hot showers that work and are actually hot;
A place to make coffee and store/prepare food;
A place to wash clothes;
Peaceful and nature abundant surroundings;
And a place to sleep.

Sloths! Chickens! Agoutis! Golden Frogs! Iguanas!

These creatures are all residents on the property. The chickens and agoutis are here every single day, and the others are occasionally spotted. We compost and recycle here.

The Magma Chamber - Terms & Conditions:

Cancellation policy: 1 day before arrival. In case of a late cancellation or No Show, you will be charged the first night of your stay.

Check in from 14:00 to 23:00 .
Check out before 12:00 .

Payment upon arrival by cash in USD only.

General:
24 hour Reception.

This is a pet free property. No fur bearing pets or assistance animals please. The property owner is a resident on the property and is allergic (even to hypoallergenic breeds). If you require an assistance animal, we would ask you to seek accommodations elsewhere.

You may smoke outside on the property, but please do not smoke inside the private rooms or kitchen, and please clean up after yourself.

Please do not flush toilet paper.

Please keep the front gate closed and locked after entering or exiting the grounds.
