Guesthouse“Kamejikan” is located in old Kamakura area and only 250 meters away from the sandy beach where you would enjoy a nice morning walk and beautiful sunset, as well as surfing and swimming in the summer.
The 88 years old wooden house originally built as a residence for a wealthy family renovated into a guesthouse in 2011.
The carpenter was specialized in temples and shrines which reflects throughout the building with similar characteristics including a large shrine inside.
“Kamejikan” means “turtle time” in Japanese. The name was given in hopes that the guests would spend relaxing time here and remember the slow flow of time in the old days. You would enjoy staying at the traditional Japanese wooden architecture in the quiet neighborhood in Kamakura surrounded by some old temples away from the tourist area.
We welcome you to visit us at “kamejikan”.
All rooms are Japanese style, a room for 2 persons, a room for 4 persons and 6 beds in a dormitory room(mixed gender).
Air conditioners are furnished in all the rooms.

Very friendly staff who speaks good English. I felt very welcomed here, almost like a 2nd home. It’s a very short walk from the beach, but about a 20 minute walk from the JR Kamakura station. This was one of the best guesthouses I’ve stayed at in Japan, and I truly felt at home.

Super friendly and helpful staff, gorgeous house, close to tons of temples and shrines, 5 min walk to the beautiful beach, comfortable bunk beds. I’d stay here again in a flash and would recommend it to anyone.
