The Frame Guesthouse

The Frame Guesthouse is a three-storey heritage shophouse in Georgetown, Penang, formerly housing a frame maker's shop.

Rooted in a belief in authenticity, functionality, and materials that age beautifully, we chose to restore only what was highly necessary in the guesthouse, preserving the rest. Existing concrete floors, walls, and surfaces were minimally treated, retaining their original character with rough, peeling walls and exposed traces of old electrical fixtures.

The newly added Capsule Dorm is located within a heritage site, which was claimed to have been a warehouse for a legal firearms shop in Penang before the 1970s, visited by many local famous people. The original metal door, external walls, and building structure have been left untouched, preserving its history.

On the ground floor, you'll find R COFFEE CO., renowned for its artisanal coffee, where you can enjoy the lively atmosphere of the neighborhood.

Since opening our first branch in 2008, our guesthouse has consistently held the top ranking. Situated within a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it offers convenient access to major tourist attractions, making it the perfect choice for travelers seeking a unique and affordable stay.
