About Mui Ne
Vietnam's Mũi Né is a ready-made water sports destination that combines sandy beaches and waves perfect for surfing. A fun nightlife scene is also on hand with cool beach bars and clubs, as well as authentic local markets full of spices and tasty snacks. Originally a small fishing village, it has become a popular destination for visitors from Ho Chi Minh City. Not surprisingly, seafood is an essential element of the local cuisine, and you can choose from a wide variety of delicacies from Mũi Né's many stalls and restaurants.
Many Mũi Né hostels have a resort vibe, surrounded by palm trees and with their own swimming pool (or pools). A hostel with a rooftop terrace and an open-air whirlpool is the perfect place for daytime chilling, while a place with an on-site nightclub and DJs is ideal if partying is on the agenda. There's also a Mũi Né hostel with a private beach and a daily free beer hour if you're looking for pure relaxation.
Mũi Né is made up of several beach resorts dotted with lush gardens full of tropical plants, so you'll find plenty of spots to relax under the sunshine. Along the Mũi Né strip there are lively pockets of clubs, shops and restaurants. For a more serene setting, there's a quiet harbour at one end of the strip, where fishermen sort their catch next to hundreds of little boats. You can also take buggy tours or go sand sledding in the two dune areas.
The waves at Mũi Né are ideal for surfing from late autumn to late spring, and there's also a sailing school. After a day of water sports, you could pay a visit to a massage place to soothe your muscles. If you're interested in Vietnamese culture and history, you'll find a few ancient buildings and pagodas like Po Shanu Cham Towers. To pick up some authentic fish sauce (nước chấm), head to Phan Thiet Central Market; it's also the place to try local delicacies like bánh xèo (crispy pancake).
Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport is the closest international airport to Mũi Né. There aren't any direct buses to Mũi Né, so you'll need to get a taxi to Ho Chi Minh City; it's cheapest to take a metered taxi from the pick up lane. From Ho Chi Minh City, there are buses that will get you to Mũi Né in five to six hours. In Mũi Né, you can take a xe ôm (motorbike taxi) or metered taxi.
