About Hollywood

Fort Lauderdale is on the south-eastern portion of the Florida Panhandle, 48km (30 miles) north of Miami. It is known for its white sand beaches and network of boating canals. Fort Lauderdale’s summers are long, hot, and rainy; and the winters are shorter, clear, and a more comfortable temperature. The average coldest day of the year is January 18th, which still has an average high of 23˚ C!

Fort Lauderdale hostels are the best way to live in luxury without breaking the bank. There are several locations to choose from, depending on which areas you’d like to see and what activities you’d like to do. Hostels in Fort Lauderdale also have great outdoor lounging space, so you can mingle with your hostel mates in the fresh air. Look out for free surfboard and bike rentals when you book.

Staying around Lauderdale-By-The-Sea will give you access to a cute, beach town vibe with friendly people and nice restaurants. Central Fort Lauderdale has a beautiful Riverwalk and a variety of restaurants and speakeasies, as well as being vibrant. For those wanting to soak up the sun, Lauderdale Beach is where you want to be. Its white sands and blue water are super inviting, and there are great facilities to keep you fed, hydrated, and having fun.

If you’re going to Fort Lauderdale, you’re definitely planning on sitting on the beach, basking in the sun, and maybe even picking up that book that’s been sitting beside your bed since you made that New Year’s resolution. What you probably aren’t planning on doing (but should be) is exploring the parks in the area. You can do everything from canoeing and biking to fishing and birdwatching in Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, and you won’t regret seeing the creepy banyan trees either.

Fort Lauderdale has an extensive bus network to get you around all the attractions. There are also rental bikes that you should take advantage of and ride along the beach. A Brightline train can get you to West Palm Beach and/or Miami or use Amtrak for longer trips to other cities. Otherwise, you will need to rent a car, use a taxi or ridesharing service to get around.
