About Townsville
Located northeast along the coast of Queensland you’ll find some breath-taking, World Heritage landscapes and scenic views. Sitting along the Great Barrier Reef, Townsville is a city full of things to do for all different types of travellers and I with more than 320 days of sunshine each year, who wouldn’t fall in love with this little enchanting city.
A range of hostel types in Townsville allows you to have options between budget and modern chic (dare we say there are a few Greek vibes going on). Whether you’re on a budget, looking to ‘treat yo self’ a little, or perhaps you’re looking for that happy medium, whatever your preferred travel style we’re sure you will find a Townsville hostel to suit your needs.
The majority of our hostels in Townsville are right in the heart of the town which is great and allows you to explore the town by foot whilst still providing great transportation links to the outer areas. If you want to be out of the hustle and bustle of the inner city, we have accommodation that allows you to feel far removed yet still relatively close to the town for discovering all the city has to offer. Whatever your preferred travel style we’re sure you’ll find a Townsville hostel to suit your needs.
Located along the Great Barrier Reef, if you’re headed to Townsville you’ll need to get out on the water and either snorkel or dive the reefs. While you’re in town, a trip to the Riverway also needs to be on your list. So grab your new hostel buddies for a picnic and a day of swimming in the lagoons overlooking the Ross River. Similarly, for a relaxing and sunny day out take a trip to The Strand. Its 2.2km boardwalk with amazing ocean views won’t disappoint, not to mention the shops, cafes, swimming holes and waterpark located along the way.
In terms of getting around Townsville, there is a public bus (the Sunbus) that runs around the town together with taxi ranks making travelling around easy.
