This was a comfortable, conveniently located, affordable, and safe location. I stayed in a private room with my partner and we had ensuite toilet and bath. We visited in the summer and enjoyed the powerful air conditioning unit in the room. The room was comfortable and clean. The location was great. The staff was very kind and easy to communicate with. Overall we had a lovely, comfortable stay. The only negative of this location was the mildew smell in the room; the bath seemed to hold a lot of moisture and

A beautiful, simple, traditional place to stay! Staff/owner was super welcoming and accomodating, immediately bringing a fresh hot kettle to our room for tea. Don’t expect a ton of modern-hostel-type amenities like a kitchen, bar, or things for cooking. For shorter stay, this room was wonderful! Everything worked well (AC, toilet), traditional touches like tea set and bathrobes were great. It’s a few blocks further from the local subway line than other places but still fantastic location!

Asakusa Ryokan Toukaisou is on a quiet street very close to the tourist-hotspot heart of Asakusa. The room was small but cozy, and the floor mattresses extremely comfortable. Filtered and hot water, tea, and yukata are provided. I met two staff: one spoke Japanese and English, the other spoke Chinese, Japanese, and Korean; both were polite and friendly! The hallways were dimly lit and smelled faintly like smoke despite no smoking signs, but room had no odor. We enjoyed our stay! Would recommend.
