We're also the friendliest hostel in Ottawa. We pride ourselves on offering a laid back service for short term travellers at a great location in the city. We're located Downtown, only 2 minutes away from Byward Market, a supermarket and the liquor store. The Parliament, US Embassy and the Art Gallery are all an easy stroll away.
We have all the facilities you would expect from a hostel plus some nice, little extras.

Bed bugs and dirty rooms, homeless and prostitutes sleeping in common areas

Hostel is used also for people that stay longterm for work or are valuntering to help out in the hostel. Making thecatmosfere feel less hospitible for short stayers ( backpackers) fuirniture was also outdated, broken, smelly. Neighbourhood was full of addicts / homeless people using drugs on the street. House next door appeared to be housing prostitudes.
Staff was very laidback, not very active or willing to interact with the guists.
I would not recomment this hostel for backpackers.

I had a late check in so they sent me self check in instructions but when I got there at 2am there was still someone at the reception so that was convenient. Simple room in downtown. Its near a homeless shelter but it didn't feel unsafe.
