Retro Youth Hostel

Retro is the first established youth hostel in Cluj, located in the very center of the city. Since 2002 we have been the ideal place to stay for budget travelers, families and groups. We offer quality lodging in a wide variety of rooms (single, double, triple, dorms) with private or shared bathrooms.
Since 2007 Retro hostel has offered day tours in Transylvania and package tours throughout the country, car rentals, free bike rental for our guest and much more...

We are located on a quite pedestrian lane, away from any traffic noise, two minutes walking from the main square of the city, and 500 meters from the 'Babes Bolyai' University, the second largest in the country. Open by enthusiastic travelers, Retro Hostel, is nestled inside the medieval city wall, within a walk of main tourist attractions in town.

Thus, you can reach in the walking distance all the touristy sights of the old part of Cluj such as The Tailors Fort, Museum of History, Museum of Art, Botanical Garden, Ethnographic Museum.

Retro Youth Hostel is offering over 48 accommodation places in shared rooms, triple rooms, single and double rooms, many of them having private bathrooms. From our desk office you can find different maps of the region, youth hostel and international telephone cards, or you can easily join us in one of the day trips we organize (among the most requested: Scarisoara Ice Cave tour, Maramures region tour, Felix thermal baths & the Bear's Cave tour, Turda Salt Mine tour and many more).
We offer free coffee, tea and cooking facilities, safe boxes for luggage, info service and a friendly English speaking staff.

IMPORTANT NOTICE - SINCE OUR RECEPTION IS NOT OPEN THROUGHOUT THE DAY, WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CHARGE OUR GUESTS ARRIVING ON THE CHECK IN DAY, BY USING THE CARD DETAILS PROVIDED BY HOSTELWORLD. Here are our 3 types of breakfast available to be ordered:
Basic breakfast – Retro J pancakes + chocolate and / or strawberries topping!! – 25 lei /portion, can be served from 08.00 a.m.;
Classical breakfast - bread, Retro pancakes J, a packet of butter, cheese, a packet or a bowl of jam, a bowl of cornflakes, coffee, tea and milk; – 30 lei /portion, can be served from 08.00 a.m.;
Local breakfast – bread, zacusca (vegetable stew), spreadable pork fat (use it with salt), dry sausages, pork smoked fat, onions, tomatoes, cheese, coffee, tea – 30 lei /portion, can be served from 06.00 a.m. tomatoes, coffee, tea);
Vegetarian breakfast - bread, zacusca (vegetable stew), a bowl of cornflakes, high fiber oat flakes, walnuts, cheese, tomatoes, coffee, tea, soy milk - 30 lei /portion, can be served from 06.00 a.m.
