Hostelworld says

Urban Central is located just south of the Yarra River, within short walking distance of Federation Square and the Eureka Skydeck. This hostel was vote the third-best hostel in Oceania at the 2006 Hoscars. It offers very clean, modern and small-capacity dorms and very friendly, attentive staff. The onsite bar has popular happy hours with drinks specials, a pool table and foosball. We particularly like that guests can borrow guidebooks from reception.

Most of everything in there was very good except for a lousy staff member who gave me a hard time whenever I had to inquire from reception , making my 1 month stay totally forgettable . The rest of the staff were terrific

Urban Central says

I think what puts us ahead of the rest is that we offer lots of little extras that really make a difference in our guests' experience, such as free rice, pasta, tea and coffee, plus a free weekly meal. We also have an in-house bar and travel desk, plus air conditioning and heating. We're less than 10 minutes' walk from so much of Melbourne's best sights, but what I really recommend is Brunswick Street. It's full of cafes, boutique shops and restaurants throughout the day, bars and nightclubs at night, and some brilliant artists' markets at the weekend. Also, the South Melbourne Market is one of Melbourne\'s most popular markets. There are over 133 businesses operating in the market, selling a huge range of products! It's open every day and is only a short walk from us. While a majority of our guests are backpackers between 18 and 35, we have guests of all ages coming through our doors. Mature guests come for our clean rooms and knowledgeable staff; families come for the ease of getting around. There's something for everyone. We also have disabled accessible public areas and some rooms.
