This is a cheap but utterly cheerful hostel right in the centre of Sydney. It's close to the city's vast selection of late-opening bars and it's just a little way from sights like the Botanical Gardens, Sydney Opera House and the Sea Life Aquarium. A favourite with backpackers doing the famed East coast tour, it's a brilliant place to meet other backpackers. They are big on entertaining their guests here and getting folks to mix, so you're unlikely to get bored. Also, don't worry about asking the staff for help, they're lovely.

Very dirty, smells terrible, no sheets for the blanket, facilities way too small for this many occupants

First smell I experienced was that of dirty a public toilet as I walked up the stairs. Carpet is filthy, bed linen was stained and dirty, there is not one thing good about this place. It appeared most of the people there were not backpackers but semi permanent residents - evident by the several food delivery bikes lined up in the hallway. I cut my losses and got out of there fast, reception staff would not provide me a refund.
