This well-positioned hostel is relaxed and easy-going, with a great atmosphere and friendly staff that make you feel at home.
From the moment you walk into the lobby you sense the laid-back, welcoming vibe of MERAMEES hostel Little touches like fresh flowers, books, CDs and casual sofas in the lobby help make it feel like you're dropping by to see friends at home rather than checking into a hotel.
The casual majlis (meeting room) off the lobby where breakfast is served makes a good place to hang out after a hot day's sightseeing.
The rooms themselves have high ceilings, wooden floorboards, large windows and French doors leading onto balconies, and there are shared bathrooms and rooms with own bathrooms and toilets apart from the dorm room. Helpful stuff gives his guests plenty of advice about visiting Cairo and other parts of Egypt . The Meramees is certainly one of the more friendly options around down town.

We spent two nights at Meramees Hostel. Although the entrance to the building and stairwell were a bit alarming on our arrival (quite rundown and dirty in appearance) the hostel itself (on the 5th/6th floor) is actually very nice and super clean! The private room we stayed in was really clean, comfy beds, good AC. The staff were really nice and helpful and the breakfast was amazing!! Would definitely stay here again! Can recommend.

The location is great- a 15-20 minute walk from Tahrir Square and the Nile. Everything was very clean and the atmosphere was very welcoming and charming. The breakfast was delicious, hearty, and a great way to start the day! Everyone was so friendly and ready to assist with anything. It felt like coming home every evening!
One thing to note- the hostel is on the 5th floor and the elevator did break once while I was there but other than that, everything was fantastic and I would highly recommend!

I recently stayed at this hostel for seven days and had an exceptional experience. The facilities were top-notch and included everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The staff were incredibly kind and always ready to assist with any request. The location was perfect, right in the heart of the city center, making it easy to explore local attractions. Overall, it was a fantastic stay and I would highly recommend this hostel to anyone visiting the area.
