The Judy House

Nestled within the picturesque tropical surroundings of the Judy House property are six charming and cozy rooms tailored specifically for backpackers, travelers, and tourists of all ages exploring the vast wonders of the world, the Caribbean region, or even just Jamaica.

The Hostel Rooms, aptly named Mango, Papaya, Banana, and Star Apple, are accommodating spaces featuring four beds, ideal for up to four guests in intimate single rooms. Additionally, Guava and Jackfruit offer two private rooms with two beds each, perfect for a duo seeking a more private retreat. Each hostel room is thoughtfully equipped with single beds, convenient power and USB ports, refreshing mosquito nets, individual fans, secure safe boxes, ample storage, and crisp bed linens (towels available upon request).

Excitingly, recent enhancements have been made to the Papaya, Banana, Mango, and Guava rooms, now featuring desks and chairs to cater to digital nomads and guests requiring a workspace during their stay.

Further accommodations include Micky's, a spacious single room for one guest, located near an outdoor bathroom. This cozy room offers a comfortable 3/4 bed, a reading light, mosquito net, standing fan, tables and chairs, a safe box, power and USB ports, storage space, and quality bed linens and towels.

For those seeking a more exclusive experience, Rita's Private Garden Room presents a light-filled double room for solo or duo occupancy, boasting a serene private garden space for yoga practice. Detached from the hostel area, this room features a double bed, reading light, table and chair, mosquito net, standing fan, safe box, power and USB ports, and luxurious bed linens and towels.

If seclusion and modern comforts are what you desire, 'Judy House' and 'Kim's Place' Self Catering Cottages offer a private haven on the property. These quaint cottages, upgraded in 2022 and 2024, provide a tranquil escape with all the necessary amenities. Surrounded by lush gardens, the cottages exude charm and coziness.

The cottages come equipped with one double bed and one twin bed, accommodating two to three guests comfortably. Featuring screened windows and doors, ensuite hot water bathrooms, fresh linens and towels, fully equipped kitchens or kitchenettes, shady verandas with seating and hammocks, private patios, AC units, fans, lamps, hairdryers, irons, safes, power and USB ports, and complimentary wifi access for your convenience.

Furthermore, Zoe's Garden Room offers a luxurious double private room with a double bed, perfect for one or two guests seeking extra comfort and privacy. This room features an AC unit, hot water en-suite bathroom, private entrance, and a beautiful fenced tropical garden. Ideal for couples or friends, Zoe's Garden Room also includes a desk and chair, fridge/freezer, ceiling fan, hairdryer, iron, coffee/tea making facilities, safe box, power and USB ports, and a dedicated yoga space with mats.

Guests of the Backpacker Hostel and rooms have access to three shared outdoor bathrooms (one with hot water) and two fully equipped kitchens. A dining area near the main kitchen offers outdoor food preparation and dishwashing facilities, a recycling area, and a compost container. Additionally, there is a hand wash laundry area available, along with an on-site laundry service offered by the Judy House Housekeepers. An outdoor shower is conveniently located behind the Housekeepers' room for guest use.

For a refreshing beverage or a quick snack, the licensed 'One 4 the Road' Honesty Bar and Cafe is open 24/7’s, offering a selection of beers, spirits, mixers, sodas, water, juices, tea, coffee, biscuits, chips, light food items, lighters, rolling tobacco, and more for your enjoyment.

1. Hammock Cabanas - Passion Fruit and Starfruit:
- Each cabana features two lovely Mayan hammocks, with Passion Fruit also offering a library stocked with books in various languages.
- A perfect retreat for relaxation, napping, or reading, these cabanas also include a bathroom, an outdoor shower, a table with benches, and a barbecue setup in the Hammock Garden.

- Situated just a 10-minute walk from the Caribbean Sea along Westland Mountain Road in Negril, Jamaica, The Judy House provides a unique experience of authentic Jamaican living within a welcoming local community.

- Discover local shops, quaint bars, and affordable eateries before reaching the seafront, where you can mingle with locals, dine, and enjoy the coastal ambiance.
- Some Rooms and cabanas offer views of the beautiful rock and hammock gardens, Jamaican bushland, the sky, and the distant Caribbean Sea.
- Shared amenities include a spacious terraced sun deck with a roofed cabana, free wifi, seating areas, sun loungers, benches and chairs, and an outdoor shower.
- Conveniently located near various dining options, bars, entertainment venues, supermarkets, gift shops, banks, and Negril's renowned cliffs and 7-mile white sand beach, making it easy to explore and enjoy the local attractions.

Additional Information:
- Guests are encouraged to make use of the lush foliage and shared amenities across the property, managed by Sue McKenzie.
- Upon confirmation of their booking and payment of the Hostelworld fee, guests may be required to confirm their reservation with The Judy House by providing a CVC for a 50% deposit, with the remaining balance due upon arrival.
- A local 15% tax and a $1 US per night guest tax are included in the room prices, payable directly to The Judy House.
- The Judy House promotes eco-friendly practices such as recycling and composting, encouraging guests to participate in maintaining a sustainable environment.
- To secure room safe-boxes, guests booking hostel and other rooms are advised to bring their own padlock. Safes are available at Kim's Place and Judy House Cottages.

Rita's Private Garden Room - a light Double Room that sleeps one or two, with a spacious private garden and space for personal yoga, with table and benchs; sun loungers and umbrella. Separate from the Hostel area with a double bed; reading light; table and chair; mosquito net; standing fan; safe box; power and USB ports; bed linens and towels.

Both 'Judy House' and 'Kim's Place' Self Catering Cottages nestle privately in the 1/4 acre property in front of property, providing you with the utmost seclusion while still feeling secure. You will feel comfortable and at home with all the modern amenities (Upgraded in 2022 & 2024). The lush gardens that surround the cottages are truly stunning.

The 2 pretty cottages - have 1 double bed and 1 twin bed sleeps 2/3 persons. Clean and cosy with screened windows and doors. Complete with ensuite hot water bathroom; linens and towels; fully equipped kitchen or kitchenette. Shady verandah with table, chairs and hammock at the front with private patio, table, benches and at the back/side. With AC; fans; lamps; hairdryers; irons; safes; power and USB ports. Free wifi to connect phone, tablet or laptop. (Judy House has a wonderful deck space for private yoga too).

Zoe's Garden Room - double private room - 1 double bed for 1 or 2 persons - AC, hot water en-suite bathroom, private entrance, and a beautiful fenced tropical garden. Designed for couples and friends that can afford a bit more comfort and privacy. Desk and chair, fridge/freezer; ceiling fan; hairdryer; iron; coffee/tea making; safe box; power and USB ports provided. Zoe’s private garden has sun loungers; a table; chairs and a private yoga space with mats.
(Use of 3 outdoor bathrooms, 2 outdoor kitchens and lots of communal areas is also available).

The Backpacker Hostel and rooms have the use of 3 shared (and fully dedicated) outside bathrooms (one with hot water)) and 2 fully equipped kitchens. A dining area is close to the main shared kitchen with outdoor food preparation, dishwashing space, a recycling area and a compost container. Hand wash laundry area is provided make use our on-site service laundry provided by Judy House Housekeepers who you pay directly to wash for you. Another outdoor shower can be located at the back of the Housekeepers room.

My licensed 'One 4 the Road' Honesty Bar and Cafe is open 24/7's where you can purchase beers, spirits, mixers, sodas, water, juices, tea, coffee, biscuits, chips, small food items to cook, lighters, rolling tobacco, papers, etc. In busy times freshly baked cakes and local fruits are available too.

2 Hammock Cabanas -. Passion Fruit and Starfruit have 2 beautiful Mayan hammocks in each. One also has a Library with books in many languages. Nice, cool 'getaway' space to relax/ sleep, read etc. There is also a bathroom, outdoor shower, table and benches, barbque in the Hammock Garden.

Country and Pretty - the Judy House Cottages, Backpacker Hostel, and Rooms are located just a 10-minute walk from the Caribbean Sea up Westland Mountain Road, in Negril, Jamaica. It's a great location, set in a friendly local mixed community which gives you a very special taste of authentic Jamaican living. A few shops and small local bars are to be found in the neighborhood before you reach the sea. On the local seafront local affordable places to eat, drink, hang out by the sea or chat with locals.

Rooms and Cabanas overlook the beautiful rock and hammock gardens; Jamaican bushland; the sun, moon, and the stars; plus the Caribbean Sea in the distance. There is a large terraced sun deck with a roofed cabana: free wifi; table; benches and chairs; sun loungers; and outdoor shower.

Just minutes from, restaurants, bars, shows, parties, supermarkets, gift shops, banks, and of course Negril's famous cliffs and 7-mile white sand beach are at your convenience. IMPORTANT PLEASE READ When your booking has been confirmed by Hostelworld and their fee charged to you may be contacted Judy House to confirm your booking with them by sending your CVC for your 50% deposit. 50% balance is then due on arrival by card or cash.

NOTE 1:
A local 15 % Tax and $1US per night Guest Tax is added by Hostelworld to Cottages, Room & Hostel prices. (Total Room prices including taxes to be paid to Judy House, but not Hostelworld fee which you will have already paid).

NOTE 2: Please do not book the Judy House with the expectation of reserving a cheap hotel room and 5 star hotel services. Members of the Judy House 'Family' are expected to play their part in keeping rooms and communal areas clean during and after use. Judy House is 'Green Globe' and encourages guests to recycle and compost their garbage in the areas provided whenever possible.

NOTE 3: Conserving water and electricity on our beautiful island is always welcomed and necessary.

NOTE 4: Guests booking Hostel and other Rooms should bring their own padlock to secure the room safe-boxes. Safes are provided at Kim's Place and Judy House Cottages..
