The hostess - Rosa - a local Certified Mountain Guide and passionate about local culture, will surely provide you with all the information for hikes and tours, as well as things to do and see around Funchal. When you do not have a car at hand, she will recommend car rental or point out the buses to take across the Island.

Lack of lighting. The kitchen is really small so not much room for socializing or cooking. Only enough room for one person to cook and eat.

Nice place to stay. Like others said there’s not really a hostel vibe (I saw a total of 3 people here during a 2 night stay). I also did not meet any staff until right as I was leaving to check out. Definitely feels more like an Airbnb than hostel but nice place to stay nonetheless.

This is a lovely hostel! Great location, on a quiet street but close to the city center. Rosa was responsive and helpful -- at one point our code to get in changed unexpectedly and she fixed it within five minutes. The kitchen is small but it had everything we needed. Not a particularly social hostel, but people were friendly. Everything was kept very clean.
