DANCEHALL HOSTEL is a community-based tourism interest and guest house located at 321 Molynes Road, Jackson Town in Kingston 19. It has been officially endorsed by TPDCO as well as the Ministry of Culture, Gender,
Entertainment and Sports.
We are located within the DANCEHALL DISTRICT that offers accommodation, dance classes conducted by reputable dancehall instructors, lectures and cultural tours.
Occasionally, you will hear the ambient reverb of sound-systems playing and citizen shopping at the corner shops in the areas which give visitors the authentic feeling of a real community. It’s safe and it’s a great experience to live and learn our Jamaican culture and it’s just 15 minutes drive to the city centre.
The property has a well-appointed backyard bar plus balcony lounge area where local patrons and visitors mingle, enjoy live dance performances, karaoke sessions, party, eat, drink, play games or watch their favourite movies. This is all done in an effort to foster a sense of camaraderie, to achieve an authentic Jamaican experience while enjoying the culture, taking dance lessons with the best local dancers while visiting the beaches, historical sites and parties. Corner shops are across the street and a easy 10 minutes walk to supermarket and restaurants.
The Dancehall Hostel is located on the same property of the renowned Cell Block Recording studio. It consist of 2 large dormitory. The downstairs one fitted with bunk beds and upstairs with single beds. Its also have a common room and fully equip kitchen for each dorm. There are other bedrooms which can be private and two others self-contain rooms, one which is a studio flat name One Drop Studio and the other is name Mento Room with kitchenette and own bathroom. All rooms carry air conditioner unit and internet Wi-Fi. Solar-heated shower in shared bathrooms. Free internet throughout the property.

We got a bigger apartment as the one I booked was full. It was a very spacious apartment all for us. We had our own kitchen and airco. So prive value was amazing. The location is far of the main places to visit. But if you have a car it is doable. It does not have a hostel vibe., There were no other guests. And we had a lot of problems paying because the machine did not work. The people are nice but they are not really knowledgeable what to do or where to go. It is more an airbnb.
