Are you looking for a home away from home in Ecuador? Well that is exactly what you will find at this picturesque, family run hostel in the heart of the Andes! Whether you are interested in relaxing by the fire, enjoying the scenery from a hammock on the porch, or hearing the rich history of this 43 year old hostel from Aida herself - Casa Aída offers relaxation, charm, and a wide variety of comforts. Aida also serves family-style home cooked meals using ingredients directly from the garden and fruit trees on the property. During breakfast and dinner, guests have the opportunity to share meals, stories, and get to know one another. An additional $5 for dinner includes a big bowl of homemade soup, bread, salad and a creative entree. Casa Aida offers space for camping as well for only $4 a day, which includes access to all of the facilities in the hostel. Please note: Reception is open 24 hours a day. We are a family run hostel which means we live here as well. If you arrive after 10pm and the lights are off ring the bell or knock until someone opens the door.

There really is not a better place than Hostel Aida as far as location is concerned, especially for lovers of the outdoors. Located in the quiet town of La Esperanza, at the base of Volcan Imbabura, it is a perfect starting off point for a trip to the summit. There are countless other hikes, hot springs, waterfalls, rivers and lakes to visit in the area as well! Two of Aida´s grandsons, Charlie and Jose, are experienced guides, and can lead and organize trips to the summit of Imbabura and other nearby destinations. Having grown up in La Esperanza, Charlie and Jose know the area like the back of their hands and are great resources and guides! If outdoor activities aren´t your thing, there are plenty of other attractions in the area. These include a trip to the nearby Otavalo markets, Ibarra, or simply just hanging around the hostel relaxing by the fire, playing with the animals or chatting with the family.

A variety of accommodations are available, ranging from private rooms to campsites. All rooms are brightly painted, and provide gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains and garden. Each room is furnished with comfortable beds, a desk and chair, and plenty of warm blankets for those cold mountain nights! In addition, all accommodations include access to hot showers, free towels, 24 hour check in, free WIFI, and access to a fully stocked kitchen. It is important to note that all showers and bathroom facilities are shared.
