We have added two double rooms on the ground floor,one with private bath and one with a double bed in a loft, and shared bath, both rooms include breakfast

After being closed by the Pandemic, we have passed the extensive Covid-19 protocols of the city health department, and we are authorized to reopen at 50% capacity. This ensures that we are providing a safe, healthy environment for our guests. Our 13, and 17 bed dorms now contain 7+ (The 7-8 bed dorm includes a double bed in its own capsule loft), and 8 beds each, observing recommended social distancing. There is also ample space in the social and dining areas for social distancing for dining and hanging out, as well as our air-conditioned co-working area..

Sterilization of shoes, hands, luggage and other items, plus a temperature reading upon each entry into the hostel mitigates contamination from outside the hotel.

Beaches are now open and safe with secure roped off private areas for 5 persons or less. For those who have been to the beaches before, the beach experience is much better than before.

Much of Centro Cartagena has reopened and is only a short walk from Hostel La Antigua Capsula. Our optional breakfasts change every day, and always include a sandwich, french toast, pancake, waffle, crepe or tortilla, etc.plus fresh fruit, egg, and fresh-made juice. Coffee and tea are free all day.

Our beautiful hostel is the creation of the owner, an artist/general contractor, and her daughter, a structural/decorator architect. They have created a modern, ambient versión of Colombia´s ubiquitous manglares (mangroves) beginning in the hostel’s entrance with a local artist’s beautiful mural of a backpacker in a canoe with its Captain piloting through tunnels made of overhanging branches from trees growing out of the wáter. Stretching out from the mural are lighted and colorful depictions of the overhanging mangrove branches.

Throughout the hostel are examples of the combinations of art, interior decorating, and modern architecture that demonstrate our commitment to giving our guests a high quality experience of beauty and functionality.

We have three main social áreas: the patio, where most breakfasts are served and jacuzzi bathers can cool off on a hot afternoon: the newly remodeled rooftop/sundeck that has an onsite smoking área and the air-conditioned co-working/dining room.

The hostel is situated in a 400-year-old house which is located in Getsemani, Cartagena, a few blocks away from Plaza de la Trinidad, Getsemani's main meet-up place. We are also easy walking distance to all of the Centro historic sites. Our dorms are spacious, clean and each has its own bathroom. We also have additional enclosed showers and bathrooms and a cool jacuzzi so you can cool off on those hot Cartagena days!

We delight in delighting our guests, and most who stay with us wind up extending for more days. We are accustomed to giving great personal service. Our mattresses are top quality and very comfortable and the design of our capsule-style beds gives our guests a measure of privacy in their own space.

We are knowledgeable about the area's attractions, plus tours and activities, and we can book many of them directly for you.

We have four great social areas: the patio and jacuzzi; the sundeck; the library and the air-conditioned restaurant/co-working space.

We have great, fast WiFi throughout the hostel, plus you can ask Alexa to play your favorite music in our patio
