Property Description
Our hostel is located on El Almejal beach, one of the most beautiful beaches on the Pacific Coast of Colombia in El Valle, Chocó, a small town near Bahia Solano (45 minutes in Tuk-tuk or car). We are a 25 minute walking from town which can be reached at any time and where you can buy all necessary amenities. The hostel lies right between the jungle and the stunning Pacific Ocean. You can therefore walk right onto the beach from hostel or around our garden and surrounding jungle and immerse yourself in the local flora and fauna. We have lots of areas to rest and relax where you can lie back in a hammock and enjoy the sounds (and view!) of the ocean and jungle mixing, creating a unique experience.
We have three shared rooms; two six bed dorms and one four bed dorm. We also have a private room, the ‘Pelican Suite’, which has its own bathroom and shower. All the rooms have a view to the jungle and the sea and small lockers to save important stuff. There are two shared bathrooms with showers in addition to an outdoor shower used by guests when returning from the beach. In The Pelican House all guests have access to a fully equipped kitchen to cook your own food. We also have a bar where you can purchase beers and spirits. We also have a library where guests are welcome to borrow books and a projector which we often use for movie nights. In our garden we have fruits, vegetables and herbs that we share with our customers.
We have excellent contacts with local tour operators who we know and trust; The tours range from whale watching (June to November), watching the turtles lay and hatch their eggs (August to January), bird watching, taking a boat trip to Utria National Park where you can tour the mangroves and do snorkeling, taking a day trip inland to visit indigenous communities, trekking to one of the many beautiful waterfalls nearby and many more.
So, finally who are we? We are an italo-colombian couple with four dogs and two cats! Come and be part of our family!

Check in from 11:00 to 18:00.
Check out from 07:00 to 10:00.
Payment upon arrival by cash.
Taxes not included - 19.00% for residents in Colombia. Foreigners are exempt from taxis.
Breakfast not included.
General:
Reception open 7:00am to 10:30pm.
No curfew.

Great hostel, enjoyed my stay there and for a hostel on the beach had great facilities. Was a bit quiet but think that's because it was coming to the end of whale season. Would recommend staying.
One thing to know: DO NOT BOOK TOURS THROUGH THE HOSTEL
They charge a crazy fee compared to the local tour operators (sometimes double) and it's not fair on the tour operators that they take such a big cut.

thank you Diego, Andreas,and the lovely lady hostess who's name I forgot! it was awesome time. such a warm and friendly hostel, right on the beach! great for travelers looking for somewhere to escape the bustle of the city and enjoy good company and some some seriously delicious Afro Columbian cuisine
