The building is more than 100 years old. It was the first accommodation in the village, the only one in the region for over 40 years and has been in the same family since its beginning. We want you to feel at home away from home, both in our suites and in our modern dorms, customised especially for your convenience.

Amarante is a town in the north of Portugal, considered to be one of the most beautiful in the country, with the gorgeous Tâmega River at its feet. This is a region occupied by Men since pre-historical times. Amarante is known for its warm and hospital people, where in every stone, every street and every corner one can breathe art . Stay only 40 minutes away from Porto (the capital of the northern district of Portugal), as well as the Douro Vinhateiro Region (classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site). The City cultural life has been influenced by several artists that were born there, such as Teixeira Pascoaes, Amadeo Souza-Cardoso. In 2017 the city was integrated as a creative city of music by Unesco.

We have 9 dorms and 15 suites, a communal kitchen, TV room, a garden and a Bar with a beautiful balcony over the river where you can have healthy snacks, local tapas, cocktails, teas. Plus, Hostel des Arts faciliteis are able to provide an exceptional accommodating experience at a very affordable price. The Hostel have been carefully decorated, inspired by renowned artists from Amarante or well-know Portuguese artists .

The furniture used has been creatively “upcycled” from the old hotel furniture. For the bunk beds it was developed a very exclusive system: a custom made bunk where you open the bed with a key, and gives you access to built in conveniences – storage, pula socket and reading light. Linen is included and towels have a 1 euro cost. With a young and dynamic team, we are a Hostel with a relaxed atmosphere. We would like to be part of your stay and are ready to help you with whatever you need.
