Sven's Basecamp Hostel was rated the top Hostel in Alaska in 2019 according to Alaska Travel Association. What makes this Hostel so special is its spacious layout with volleyball fields, fire pits, big decks, a spacious kitchen, 3 bathrooms, 2 showers, laundry facilities, an on site coffee shop, private cabins, treehouses, shared wall tent cabins and a campground amongst the trees. Its huge property in the middle of town provides our guests with an outdoor feel that's hard to find in Fairbanks. We are a fun-loving crew and love to provide our guests with comfortable rooms and beds. We are also called: 'The green oasis in the middle of town'. We are close to the Airport, our neighbor is a car/truck rental business, we are within walking distance to major shopping and restaurants, and a bus stop is located right outside the hostel. Over the years, Sven's Hostel has become the place where people mingle, share travel Info, recharge their batteries and in general, just love to hang out.

Not agree charge money for shower

The location is distant from shopping or attractions. One of the three on-site bathrooms was out of order. The shower was coin-operated at $0.25/min and the only towels were for rent at $3.00. This should be disclosed on the website. The term "cabin" for some of the places should be "tent." There was insufficient light and only one overburdened electrical outlet. One of us had a spider come down on her while relaxing in bed.
