Black Pearl Hostel has a pirate-themed hostel with a bar and restaurant surrounded by nature and a beautiful, wild river where you can spend hours exploring and relaxing. The hostel encompasses around 3 hectares, so there's plenty of room for activities! We are also frequently visited by small monkeys, toucans and all kinds of birds!
You can visit around 7 waterfalls in San Rafael and also swim in different rivers!
We've got a bar with amazing food and a slick drink-menu to enjoy a cold one after a tough day at the river.
We offer dorms in an ecological bamboo-house and also 3 amazing cabañas covered with sugar-cane.
We also offer tours as bird watching, cacao and coffee plantation, and adventure tours.
We are located just 25 minutes after Guatape in the main road, 7km before San Rafael town, you can arrive directly by bys either from medellin or guatapé. ¡No need to walk or take another tuk tuk!

Safe heaven for a few days away from the city, this place just feels good.
+++ Cared for nature, dogs, horse, ducks. Right next to the river! Proactive communication with the owner.
++ Quality veggie kitchen! Quality dorms and showers. Easy access to San Rafael/Guatape/Medellin.
- Depending on the cook, breakfast could be a bit dry and the coffee is generally cold, chocolate is better.
-- Slow Internet (ok for video calls, not for browsing/download, but that's in the whole region).

I loved this place. Feels so remote but also on the main bus route, nearby waterfalls accessible on foot or by bus, food is excellent and reasonably priced, dorms are comfortable and clean, private river is beautiful. Perfect for a few days of peace.

Beautiful hostel in a gorgeous area. The dorm room is nice and comfy, the food is great, the wifi is strong, the animals are super friendly (they have the most amazing horse), and the staff is ready to help with whatever you need. Highly recommended!
