Johns Hostel is a friendly, casual backpacker hostel. We are super small so it is easy to chat with the other guests. The place has a vintage, eclectic, old style.
It is a great stop on a longer European tour. There is a comfortable living room to relax. You can buy your own groceries and cook. You can do your laundry for an 8 Euro fee.
We are a basic hostel and offer only the basic amenities. No hostel events, no bar, no table tennis table.
We have bunk beds and single beds.
The hostel is in a lovely location in Berlin. The street is quiet but the area is lively and diverse. The transport connections are great. Cafes, restaurants and shopping possibilities all a stone's throw away.
Cool and central area, very mixed, Germans, Foreigners, Young Tourists, Students, Workers, Intellectuals, very mixed.

Payment: Full payment in cash is required upon arrival
Refunds: No refunds. After arrival it is not possible to change your duration of stay and receive a partial refund.
Cancellation policy: Cancellation is only free of charge 5 days or more before arrival. In case of a late cancellation or No Show, you will be charged for part of of your stay.
Check in from 15:00 to 21:00 .
It is not possible to arrive earlier than 15.00 to drop off your bags. The hostel does not open until 15.00.
Important: We are a very tiny hostel and do not have 24 hour reception.
Check in is by appointment only. Please contact us before you arrive to arrange an appointment for check-in.
Check out before 11:00 .
Payment upon arrival by cash.

Breakfast not included.
When you check in, you need the payment amount in cash in addition to 30 euros for the key deposit.

Shower, bathroom, kitchen, laundry. They have it all and a lovely common room to chat to other guests in too. We met a lovely group who we spent a fun night out with and many fun nights in chatting about our trips and experiences together.

Avoid this hostel. Our 'private' room did not lock, the shower had no curtain, there was mould throughout the fridge, curtain did not cover entire window, it was not possible to close the toilet door to poo because the room was so small our legs extended past the door, there was dirt on the walls beside the bed and chewing gum in the bed, the bedding did not cover the mattress, the mattress was unusually thin, light by the bed flashes in multiple colours. Refusal to allow us to shorten our stay.
