Property Description
Take it easy at our scenic lakeside lodge. Our space is hidden away in the wee slice of paradise where the Waiau River meets Lake Manapouri. It's a wonderland for nature and wilderness lovers, nestled into a breathtaking Beech forest, and right on the edge of Fiordland National Park. Beautiful birds fill the trees above. Fantastic fish fill the river and lake below. Humble and historical, the accomodation is basic and the property has been a campground for over 100 years.
Both the lake and river are just a stone's throw away. Everything in the Manapouri Township is very walkable and bikeable. Take a 5-minute stroll down the river, under the Beech tree canopy, and you will find RealNZ's Doubtful Sound terminal. We can highly recommend taking a trip from there.
The main Manapouri beach is a 5-10 minutes walk around the lake and the local bar, cafe, restaurant, and shop are a 3-minute walk up the track.
The mighty Kepler Track is a short drive, and Te Anau too.
The maximum stay is 31 days.
Check in between 2pm to 9pm, check out until 10am.

Surrounded by Lake Manapouri, you walk just a few steps to several small beaches with stunning views of the Fiords and the stars at night. Wonderful trails through lovely forest starting also right at the campsite will lead you to Pearl Harbour and Fraser's beach, with many more perfect walking and cycling trails close by, as well as the cruise to Doubtful Sound

Really good location to spend the night. It's really close to Pearl Harbour where the cruises to Doubtful Sound start/end. The rooms are pretty comfortable but people can be really noisy. Someone in my room had a 2 hour long phone conversation in a really loud voice at night. The toilets were out of toilet paper in the morning. It's a really affordable option though so the inconveniences might be worth the value.

We stayed at possum lodge two nights in between our stay at deep cove. Close to Lake manapouri (which is stunning) and pearl harbour if you are taking the Doubtful Sound cruise. Henry was very friendly and went out of his way to help us when the two restaurants in town were closed for dinner. It was fully booked when we stayed there, but we still had a great nights sleep and it didn’t feel overcrowded. Great to have washing machine and dryer available and use of wifi.
