We are located in Barrio Escalante, the hip, and the safest area of San Jose. Home to unique restaurants, craft coffee, and quirky galleries, it is the ideal place to embrace the culture of San Jose. You can walk to the city center in just 15 minutes. Visit some museums like Jade, Gold or the national museum. You can taste real Costa Rican food at the central market or buy some souvenirs. We have outside and inside communal areas where you can chill and enjoy before or between your trips in Costa Rica.
We offer rooms with 6 beds, 4 beds, 8-bed dorms, and double and single private rooms. We provide free Wi-Fi, free personal lockers for guarding valuables, free fresh bed linens, free towels in private rooms and towels for rental in dorms, free maps and advice and free tea/coffee-making facilities, shared kitchen. There is a two big Supermarkets close by to the hostel just 3 minutes' walk. You can also withdraw money from the ATM inside the supermarkets safely.

We do not accept people over 45 years old in shared rooms.

As the name says it's more calm and chill at the Hostel but I absolutely loved it. One of the cleanest hostels I've ever seen and the staff is so helpful and nice. They helped me plan my trip and booking bus tickets and were just lovely people. There is a well equiped kitchen and free coffee/tee. Chillout is located in a safe neighborhood with bars and restaurants. The only con I have is that the bunkbeds make a lot of noise when moving.

I had a great stay at Chill Out Hostel. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was really good!
