Jaba Jan is the perfect place to disconnect from the loud city life and reconnect with yourself and meet new people. Here you can experience different types of nature the howler monkeys are the noisest visiters normally. The hostel is surrounded by the jungle, we have access to private beaches and a river, right in our backyard. By kayak you can access a magic mangrove, our secret peace of heaven on earth. Our aim is to have minimal impact on this beautiful eco system, its the last one on the caribean coast. We are part of a conservation program to get the local and national authoritys on board to protect this special place. By a little walk, kayak or swimming by the river, you can reach the river mouth, where the river meets the sea. On top of it, you can have a great view of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
We organize a lot of group day and night activities, such as beach picnics, hikes waterfall days, open mike night,visits to indigenous comunitys, jam session night and our classic pizza night, made in our traditional pizza oven. We also have yoga mornings, language exchange and dance classes very often. It is the perfect opportunity to meet fellow travelers and spend a delightful time. Our staff have plenty of advice for a visit to tayrona national park. We have all the contacts for other local activitys such as tubing lost city trek, cabo de la vela, los flamingos national park, surf classes and many more to keep you active. Although we have plenty of hammoks and space if you prefer to chill.
You will have breakfast included in your rate; lunch, and dinner at a friendly price, always with vegetarian and vegan options, as well as a variety of drinks and snacks. There is a shared kitchen, fully equipped ready if you want to cook yourself.
All bed come with mosquito nets, rooms with bathrooms, fans and wall fans. We have a laundry service available and motos cost between 5-10k from the town.
Find us just 3km away from Palomino, the first left right after San Salvador´s river bridge.

This was one of my favourite hostels and I’ve been travelling South America for 5 months. It has such a relaxed, family vibe with dinners together each night and various activities available (yoga, meditation, kayaking, tours/workshops with locals). The free breakfast is really great, and the highlight was being right next to the river and a 10 min walk to various private beaches. We were planning on staying one night and just kept extending and didn’t want to leave. I would highly recommend this hostel.

Perfect place to relax, there’s plenty of chill space to have time for yourself or be social. The staff made so much effort to make food Gluten free for my dietary needs, there is such a family vibe. There’s a private beach to chill, it’s a bit far out if you want to spend all your time in the town. But they make it so comfortable you don’t need to leave, booked for 2 nights & ended up staying 4!

booked 2 nights, stayed for four. dean and Pedro were legends. the food is great and cheap. the river is incredible, the mangroves are unique and the beach is unspoiled. family dinner means good vibes all round. a great place to unwind. the best hostel in south America!!!
