We are undergoing a refresh of our rooms, allowing us to transition the property into a space we know you will seek and desire for your future travels.
This means, there may be some maintenance that will take place during your stay. Rest assured; we continue to ensure that this transition is completed with minimal disruption to you, during your stay.

Situated in Lake Tekapo, 45 km from Mt. Dobson, YHA Lake Tekapo features air-conditioned accommodation and barbecue facilities. Among the facilities at this property are a shared kitchen and a shared lounge, along with free WiFi throughout the property. Attractions in the area include Simons Pass, 31 km away, or The Island, set 35 km from the property.

Certain rooms are equipped with a kitchenette with a fridge. The rooms have bed linen.

Guests at the hostel will be able to enjoy activities in and around Lake Tekapo, like hiking, skiing and cycling.

Motu-ariki is 13 km from YHA Lake Tekapo, while Burkes Pass is 23 km from the property. The nearest airport is Richard Pearse Airport, 98 km from the accommodation.

Our Front Desk hours are 9 am to 5 pm.
Check-in is from 2 pm onwards.
If you are arriving earlier you're welcome to store your luggage and hang out with us in our communal areas. Free WiFi, tea, and coffee! We recommend booking the night prior if you are arriving in the early morning, please check availability and amend your booking online.

If you are arriving after our Front Desk is closed, no problem! We will send you self-check-in information on the day of your arrival, or alternatively, we have a Night Manager who will be here to help you.
We do offer luggage storage (free of charge) on site, please ask our friendly staff at the hostel.

Our hostel is strictly non-smoking.

The guest can cancel free of charge until 1 day before arrival. The guest will be charged the cost of the first night if they cancel within 1 day before arrival.
