Property Description

Ryokan Sanki is located in the historical district of Kyoto called Shimabara. Shimabara is an old entertainment district near Nishihonganji temple in the southwest part of downtown Kyoto. It is also conveniently close to JR Kyoto station.
The establishment of Sanki Inn is more than 100 years old and is built in a purely traditional Kyoto style. We share the same unique neighborhood with historical landmarks such as Sumiya (a National Historical Property), Wachigaiya, and Daimon. They were all built in the Edo Period (between 17th and 19th century). If you are lucky, you might come across a procession of a gorgeous Tayu (courtesan) and her attendants on the street reflecting images of the past.
We would be happy to serve you in this historical environment, and invite you to savor the atmosphere of old Kyoto.

The lady that attends is really lovely! She speaks a little English but she is really charming. The place is a bit far from the center but is really well located near a station so you can easily move to anywhere. The rooms are comfortable and clean, really nice experience. I would recommend this place if you are also looking for a calm and quiet place to stay!

This traditional place is worth a stay. The rooms are big for Japan and it's one station from Kyoto central. Lots of authentic restaurants around. Woman who runs it speaks only a little English but is enthusiastic and makes you feel right at home. Good value to.

The hostel is run by a very charming grandmother. It felt like we were staying at a home, which was very comforting. The place is very clean and the shower works perfectly well. It is close to a train station. It is a quiet hostel in a residential neighbourhood.
