Property Description
Dougies is run by a bunch of us who had lots of fun backpacking around places of the world before, so we decided to start a hostel ourselves. We have the pretty relaxed atmosphere, without all of the formal procedures that some hostels have. Our philosophy is 'kick back and relax at Dougies'.
We have all of the facilities that a fun loving backpacker could ever need, including a bar, refreshing swimming pool, free bbq facilities, shop (coke, ice-creams, chockies etc), a huge self-cook kitchen, laundry, internet, satellite t.v (really big one), hire bikes, fishing rods, tour desk and of course accommodation (doubles, twins, share rooms, camping, van sites and our own stylish canvas tents).
But once you see our tropical gardens and cruisy front lawn you might just want to lay back and relax under a palm tree, kick back in a hammock, by the pool or you may even like to unwind on the grass and soak up some of the Far North's warm tropical sunlight.

Stayed here for two nights. Both nights people came in late and left early before reception opened. They made their beds so reception didn’t know they were used. When I asked reception about it, the girl literally said “let’s call it a dream†as if I was dreaming. My clothing and towel that I had in the room were stolen as well. I then watched them rent the bed out a guy who is certainly going to be sleeping in someone else’s filth. Would never recommend this place.

Great location. Staff were nice. Kitchen was dirty, needed to pay $2/day for wifi and the wifi was not working my first 2 days there. The locker in my room also had no working key for it so I was told “too bad†for not being able to lock my items. Staff were really nice and obviously felt bad about the locker and the there were electric ants in the hostel and rooms (tiny red biting/stinging ants) as I got multiple bites from these little red ants.

My FAVOURITE hostel in Australia! This hostel has an awesome vibe, movie nights, open mic, DJs, there’s always something to get involved with, great kitchen, comfy spots to hang or hideaway in a hammock. You can grab an e-scooter into town or it’s just a short walk! Living the Australian dream here!🇦🇺ðŸ¨ðŸ˜Ž
