The Original Backpackers Hostel is in a leafy, green area of King’s Cross, within walking distance of Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Opera House, Darling Harbour and more. Property Description
The Original Backpackers has a beautiful building,a great location,friendly and knowledgeable staff and great facilities.The Original backpackers is located in the vibrant food and entertainment precinct of Kings Cross,only 200 metres from Kings Cross train station.We are only a 30 minute walk to the Opera House via The Royal Botanic gardens and Mrs Macquarie’s Point(Sydney’s best view!).
We have a big,modern well-equipped kitchen ,a sunny courtyard great for meeting and mingling and a great TV and chill out lounge,with Netflix on the big screen.Our coin operated laundry has big,modern washers and dryers.
For your entertainment: we have a games room with Playstation 4 and a 60" TV, Chess, Board games, & Cards.
We have sports equipment behind the recption counter with tennis racquets, footballs and basketballs. We will direct you to the nearest court or park.
We have fast and free unlimited wi fi ,with coverage through all the hostel so you can stay connected in your bed.
We have double and twin rooms,with and without private bathroom all with TVs,fridges,kettles and free tea and coffee.Dorms range from 4 bed to10 beds, ,all with storage lockers,privacy sheets and fridges.
If you have a car or van we have a special deal with the local car park- $25 for 24 hours parking. See us at the front desk to access this.
We provide free dinners (monday,wednesday and friday), This is a great way to mingle with other like minded backpackers.
This is in addition to our free continental and cereal breakfast 7 days a week and free tea and coffee all day every day.

Terrible. After a very long trip i came to crash for the night , booked before arriving only to find no one at the reception. Waited half an hour for staff to arrive then another 20mins to get my key. Filthy room, toilet had no toilet paper. I paid $100 for a bed in a dorm room. What a ripoff!

Definitely understaffed. And as a result, most of the hostel is quite dirty. Especially the kitchen. Good on the floor, tables, stove, countertops. So don’t be surprised if you see cockroaches. Images of pancakes for “free breakfast,” is false advertising. They used to do pancakes and eggs. But now it is just bread, spreads and cereals. Rooms are pretty hot all the time. I’m glad my room had a window. Just read google reviews, and you’ll get a better understanding of this hostel.

Value not as good now that it's twice COVID prices for a private.I keep booking double rooms & getting bunk bed double/single rooms, access on 1 side, even though my 1st stay I got an actual double room.1 night this trip I booked twin room;when I returned 4 my costly weekend double booking it was almost same room but differences, e.g.1st room had bedside table, a working fridge but blocked sink; other had no bedside table.Good location.Cant meet anyone if u speak English:Spanish, French etc only
