Wombats City Hostel Vienna at the Naschmarkt is in a great location overlooking Vienna’s biggest market. It’s also a short walk from the Hofburg, Secessionhaus and the Vienna State Opera, making it ideal for those looking to soak up some culture while in the city. Our Hostel is situated in a highly desirable area where everything that makes Vienna unique is condensed into an intimate, cozy neighborhood: Stylish architecture meets hippie scene meets multicultural flair all in Austria's largest city.
Naschmarkt is the name of Vienna's largest open-air-market where you will find exotic spices and specialties from all across the world ranging from budget-friendly to uber fancy - as well as a diverse crowd enjoying a drink or two while taking in the scenery.
In addition to that, the Naschmarkt hosts a flea market each Saturday, perfect for acquiring rarities, antiques and other extravagant travel souvenirs.
Our Wombat's City Hostel Vienna is situated in a lovely Art-Nouveau building constructed in the early 1900's during the Fin de Siecle. Behind the historic facade you will find modern, ensuite rooms stretching across five floors.
Our very own Wombat's Cafe (unique Wombat's Roast included) and the legendary womBAR might compel you to never even leave the place, but that would be a shame as the city is right at your doorstep!
A stroll along the Naschmarkt, passing the beautiful historic buildings will take you straight to Karlsplatz with the adjacent State Opera and the well-preserved, incredibly chic old town.
The immediate surroundings of the Naschmarkt host some of the most hip and lively neighbourhoods in the entire city where Clubs, Bars, Cafes and Restaurants line up right next to each other, ensuring both a wild night out as well as a nice dinner are just a minute's walk away.
If you want to cover more distance, our hostel is perfectly situated just across the street from the metro station which provides an efficient link to everything from the world-famous Schönbrunn Castle to the Viennese Airport.

Really nice Hostel. Had everything you needed. There was a large sociable kitchen with 4 hobs and 2 microwaves (no oven ) which just made cooking so easy. All the rooms are locked with a key that also lets you access your locker . There was an en-suite in the 6 bed dorm that was clean and had everything you needed .

I can honestly say that this is by FAR the nicest place I’ve ever stayed in my solo travels (including hotels!) they have amazing communal spaces, fantastic staff and the location is superb, close to metro, tram, and bus lines. Plus you are only about a 5 minute walk from the heart of Vienna. Naschmarkt is perfect to support local vendors and purchase fruits/veg meat bread and anything else you can imagine. I hope to be back soon!:)

Everything was just fine. There might be a confusion about the bed number to stay. I had wrong bed that later had been scolded by another stayer. The location near to train station and reachable by walking. Overall, it was a good experience to stay

Wombat's City Hostel Vienna Naschmarkt says
I think what makes Wombats special is that there is not the single unique thing making it special, but that we do a very good job in having it all. At this Wombats the Naschmarkt is right in front of the door. It's a unique farmer's market, the biggest in Vienna. Most stalls, as well as the buildings on the avenues on both sides, were built around 1910 in Art Nouveau style. It's not only one of Vienna's most important sights, there are also a big number of cafés, bars and restaurants, from local to exotic.
For fun, our guests like to waste themselves with beer, Jägermeister or a combination thereof. We can't deny that. A good night's sleep can be fun, too, though. It can be had; the rooms are well away from the brouhaha. And they're big, not crammed and stuffy.
