Special Events - Easter, Hogmanay, rugby weekends, etc - bookings will be charged 1 month in advance, (within 24 hours, if the booking is made less than a month prior to arrival) and are non-refundable. If the card is declined, the booking will be cancelled.
No Shows will be charged in full.

The Edinburgh Backpackers Hostel is a fun hostel aimed at young and young at heart backpackers looking to enjoy themselves in Edinburgh. We have 4 separate buildings comprising of a variety of dormitories and private rooms, in the very best location in Edinburgh! We pride ourselves on our friendly and helpful attitude and are always on hand to give recommendations of our favourite attractions, historical sites, pubs, clubs, restaurants and local businesses.

*Due to the historical nature of our buildings, we have a lot of stairs and no elevator - be prepared to climb!

*Free tea and coffee in shared kitchen
Our clean and comfortable dormitories range in size from 5 beds to 14 beds. All of our dorm rooms have power points for every guest, key card access (cash deposit required) and security lockers (cash deposit required).
We have 20 recently renovated private rooms spread across our 4 buildings. The options available include singles, doubles, twins, triples and quad rooms. Not all room types are available as en-suites.
In our main building we have a fully equipped self-catering Kitchen, with everything you need to keep yourself fed on a budget.
Our 2 common rooms are a great place to meet fellow travellers. We have a games room with pool table and darts board and a TV/dining room with Sky TV, book exchange and board games.

* All under 18's (no under 12's) must be booked into a private room with an adult.

Not good place. Wi-Fi not working in dorm beds, they have dorm beds in another building and not in main building where they do check in. In Another building there are so many door and it is very confusing which is exit door. Dorm bed was very congested and I guess no window because of which no space for air and was smelling not good. No mobile signal in dorm bed and also no Wi-Fi so you cannot use your phone. Not the place which is expect.

We really enjoyed our stay. The location is fantastic, the main hostel is exactly how you imagine a travellers hostel to be. The atmosphere amongst the travellers was great although we didn’t spend much time there. We were hugely disappointed by the fact we were boarded in a second hostel around the corner from the main one. Although we had all of the amenities offered to us we didn’t have wifi and were told we had to get out of bed to send messages which is inconvenient and false advertising.
