We like the very central location of Wombats City Hostel Budapest, just a block from Andr?ssy utca and five minutes from a metro station serving three lines going to Buda, the airport stop and the three main train stations. This friendly, clean hostel opened in 2012 in a former hotel. It features spacious ensuite rooms with free air conditioning, free welcome drinks for guests and a budget-friendly all-you-can-eat breakfast with yoghurt, fruit and good bread.

Our Wombat's City Hostel is a former four-star hotel that we have transformed into Budapest's favourite hostel, thanks to our signature style.
What remains is ample space for 26 private rooms and 86 dormitories, as well as generous common areas. You will find yourself in the largest hostel in the city and the one with the best location.
Wombat's City Hostel Budapest is located in the centre on Kiraly Street next to the old Jewish quarter, with the bustling streets, ruin pubs and fancy restaurants, this area is one of the most famous in the whole city.
The State Opera House, the Synagogue, Heroes' Square, the Academy of Music, the Chain Bridge, Liszt-Ferenc Square (with its elegant cafés and restaurants) as well as access to the most important shopping streets are easily accessible on foot. The picturesque Old Town and Andrassy Boulevard, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and affectionately known as the Champs Elysées of Budapest, are also just around the corner.
At night, our neighbourhood becomes a hive of partying. The ruin pub on Kazinscy Utca offers curious travellers a taste of these unique and artistic drinking establishments.
Just a five-minute walk away is the Deák Ferenc tér metro station, which connects three metro lines and several bus and tram lines.
From here you can also easily reach the major train stations Keleti and Nyugati, the Nepliget bus terminal and the airport.

Great stay at wombats, having the private en suite in all rooms is such a blessing. Beds comfortable,rooms clean and not too much noise going on. Only downsides I think they have plumbing issues because the whole floor smelt like a toilet and the room was unbearably warm and no big light so hard to actually find anything or get ready on the room

Fantastic hostel. My daughter & I stayed in a spacious twin room with en suite bathroom. Beds are very comfortable, and the hostel is spotlessly clean. In terms of location we were in the heart of the city, within walking distance to the Christmas markets and main attractions. Another plus is that the airport bus stop is located at the end of the street. I couldn't recommend Wombats highly enough.

Wombat's City Hostel Budapest says
I think what's really unique about us is that this was a pretty good hotel before we upgraded it to a Wombats , so it comes with some amenities you don´t typically find in a hostel, like really big rooms, a/c, nice en suite facilities (even with hairdryers) and amply dimensioned common areas. It´s the biggest hostel in town, so guaranteed never boring. And the house is run by a really, really enthusiastic team.
We're one block from Andrassy utca (Budapest's version of the Champs Elysse), the main cathedral is just around the corner and the history city centre is a ten-minute walk away. Walk in the other direction and you're in the middle of the most lively nightlife area. Personally I recommend hitting Corvintetö, a superb rooftop club not far away. The langos shop next to the entrance is ridiculously good (and cheap), too.
Most of our guests are twentysomethings. Budapest offers excellent nightlife and is very cheap, so it attracts a lot of people who intend to indulge in it.
