Dusky Lodge & Backpackers

Dusky Lodge & Backpackers is Kaikoura's largest hostel welcoming budget travelers, adventurers and groups. We have a main complex at 67 Beach Road with bedrooms, salt water heated pool and fresh water spa and then two smaller buildings across the street at 74 Beach Road with more accommodation. We offer a clean homely environment with bunk rooms, doubles, twins, triples, en-suite and family rooms with heaters in all rooms. Bed linen and pillows are provided. We have 3 large kitchens fully equipped as well as BBQs on the decks free to use.

Our spa and swimming-pool is open throughout summer, during winter only the spa operates.

The hostel is only 10 minute walk to the town centre, and across the road from Whale Watch. The best bakery in town is situated right beside us and grocery stores only minutes away.

We have plenty of parking space ands free to use. Luggage storage short term is available, if needed ask at reception.

Dusky Lodge & Backpackers is a great place to relax, unwind and take in the great views and spectacular sunsets from our extensive decks. Our friendly team can help book tours or give you advice on what to do while you are with us. We hope to see you soon!

Children of all ages welcome if accompanied by adults, each child needs it's own bed and the whole room needs to be booked for private use.
