The Firehouse Hostel is located in the oldest standing fire station in Austin, originally built in 1885. Locally owned and operated, started by travelers for travelers, the hostel first opened in 2013 after an extensive renovation project that updated the building’s interior. Our “Deluxe” dorms feature custom heavy duty bunks with large lockers built in underneath. Each bed includes power outlets and a reading light.
The attached Firehouse Lounge is a great place to meet fellow travelers and locals, sip on handcrafted cocktails or locally brewed beers, and enjoy live music. You can access our popular speakeasy-style cocktail bar through a hidden bookshelf in the hostel lobby!

Great recommendations by the staff for the places to eat, beautifully located on 6th Street, spacious beds..i agree European hostels are better in terms of socialising and the art and the way hostels should be, but this is US! this hostel had everything we need!

Fantastic location right off 6th street where all the main parties and bars are. the hostel bar is a speakeasy open to the general pop. makes for weird vibes. not a super social hostel compared to international hostels. no central hangout area to meet people. most are just passing thru for a weekend party
