I loved that there was a beautiful café with simple bar in the complex. Facilities were very clean and maintained. The grounds are pretty. The only drawback is that it is a 25-30 minute walk from the train station and town center, and the nearest store is about 15 minutes' walk. Still a good value, but I opted for a hired ride to the train station in the rain, adding to cost.

Only had one night stay. The property is about a 20-30min walk into town but there are two bus stops that are between 3-7min walk. The only thing was as it was an older building the door and floorboards would squeak so recommend bringing earplugs.

Very pleasant surroundings, extremely helpful staff, good facilities, and convenient to York once you've figured out the public transport or the bike paths. The cafe serves excellent meals at bargain prices.
