MayAchik is an eco-hotel located in San Juan La Laguna, Lake Atitlan, where you can enjoy a peaceful retreat in a natural environment. Discover our range of private rooms and our spacious, energy efficient, eco-friendly dormitory.
All bungalows feature comfortable beds, free towels, sitting area, solar-heated hot water shower and patio with hammocks. Guests have access to a common kitchen, free WiFi and purified water.
Bungalow Aguila is a private bungalow with 4 double beds and free WiFi, hot shower, compost toilet, hammock and great views. Ideal for families or groups of up to 6 people. Extra beds are available for larger groups.
Bungalow Lagartija is a private bungalow with 3 double beds, free Wi-Fi, hot shower, compost toilet, hammock and great views. Ideal for families or groups of up to 6 people. Extra beds are available for larger groups.
Bungalow Colibri is a round, spacious private bungalow with a double bed and a single bed, free Wi-Fi, hot shower, compost toilet and a hammock on the patio. Ideal for 1, 2 or 3 people.
Libelula and Caterpillar are 2 private rooms in a bungalow set in a large garden. They share the compost toilet and solar powered hot water shower a few meters outside the bungalow. You can choose between a double bed and 2 single beds.
Ladybug - Ladybug is a small round bungalow with a double bed. The shared hot water shower and compost toilet are about 20 meters away. Great views, privacy and close to our sauna. Ideal for couples or single travelers.
Shared dorm with 6 bunk beds, 1 double bed and 1 single bed, private lockers, free Wi-Fi, hot showers, hammock and shared compost toilets. Ideal for travelers; both individuals and friends/couples.
Our restaurant offers delicious vegetarian and vegan food, with Guatemalan influences. We grow fruits, vegetables and herbs in our lush organic garden surrounding the property.
MayAchik is the perfect place to relax and unwind; you can enjoy our traditional Mayan sauna, massages or make use of our yoga platform.
We organize many tours and hikes around San Juan and Lake Atitlan including: La Nariz del Indio and the San Pedro volcano. And the best thing is that we work with local partners, so you can discover the area at the best price and help support the local community.
San Juan La Laguna
The small village of San Juan La Laguna is located directly on Lake Atitlan, one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. Sheltered by the surrounding mountains and volcanoes, it is populated by the welcoming Tz'utujil people. It is a place where ancestral traditions have been preserved for many years and continue to be part of the daily life of the locals.
San Juan is also home to several local cooperatives, from weavers to coffee growers to beekeepers. This is what makes San Juan so special, the Tz'utujil people are famous for their craft traditions, and tourists can visit the local cooperatives to learn more about the traditions.

Don’t stay here!! PROS: showers are actually amazing especially for an eco hostel. Dry toilets are ok but they’re a bit far from the dorm. CONS: staff isn’t the nicest, absolutely no atmosphere (i wasn’t expecting much of one for an eco hostel but still), dogs barked all night and I was woken up by the workers blasting music and talking at 8:30am, the “hostel†aspect is clearly their last priority. I usually don’t give bad reviews but I needed to warn people.

Eco hostel is a perfect place to reconnect with nature in a quite and calm setting.
The staff are all very friendly and more then helpful.
All the facilities are kept very clean and the cabin I stayed in was very clean and cosy .
A perfect place if u want somewhere quite and tranquil to stay.
About a 10 min walk to town but not too far and the tuck tuck can always take u there/ back if you do not fancy the walk.
Would highly recommend.

The hostel was disgusting, smelly sheets and the bathroom was gross. There was also bugs everywhere. Don’t sleep here if you’re looking to sleep more than 10 minutes, the dogs bark ALL night right outside the door so aggressively I was actually scared. With the security (if you can call it that) I wouldn’t be surprised if the dogs got in. The windows don’t lock and there are so many gaps within the shaky building it wouldn’t even stand rain. Only bonus was the freezing cold room at night lol
