Tropicana is Guatemala’s ultimate experience in budget backpacker hostel accommodation. Centrally located in the heart of Antigua, Tropicana is amongst some of Guatemala’s finest bars and restaurants and offers a range of accommodation options from air-conditioned dorms, to private rooms of varying capacities.

Tropicana offers some awesome facilities for everyone’s enjoyment. These include a cheap reliable airport pick-up service, 24-hour check in, free Wi-Fi, a gym area, a quality restaurant at backpacker prices, and a small but pristine pool where you can take a dip to cool off or simply relax and enjoy a drink from our deck bar.

Our complete restaurant offers up breakfast, lunch and dinner at backpacker prices at a quality that will compete with anything you're likely to find around Antigua. Our licensed bar boasts a host of local and imported beers along with some fine Guatemalan Rums and Irish Whiskeys so you’ll be sure to find what you’re looking for whilst watching your favourite sports on our cable T.V or playing darts or beer pong.

We have our own Acatenango Volcano trek leaving from the hostel, this promises to be one of the highlights of your trip, so don't miss out. We offer free breakfast before you go to the trek, free storage, discount on accommodation the following nights after the trek, red wine with the dinner and you don't have to carry the camping gear (sleeping bag, sleeping mat and tent) everything is set up at the base camp.
