The old fish factory in Eyrarbakki has been lovingly converted into three one-bedroom apartments and BRAND NEW dormitory accommodation (constructed May 2015). Dorms and common areas are located in the main factory building, and the apartments are located in a separate two-story section. Each of the apartments has its own kitchen, living room, bathroom, and one bedroom. Overall a good hostel but note that the booking confirmation email tells you to pick up your keys from a restaurant- this is not the case. Just go to the hostel to get your keys.
Once I made it there, the I was happy with facilities, the kitchen was decently sized, more than enough showers and WCs, and the rooms were decent sized. My only complaint for the rooms is that there’s no privacy curtains on the bed and there’s three rows of beds so if you’re in the middle, it’s very exposed.

The day I was there was dark and gloomy but the hostel also sort of felt a little lonely and not in a great location. The facilities were good, though, and I slept well.

Lovely spot to stay while exploring the golden circle.
Great facilities in every way, huge common area that is welcoming and clean. Cleanest hostel fridge I’ve ever seen 🙌
