Lovely owner - was very welcoming, made breakfast and took us to Piduranga Rock in his Jeep for a small fee. Also offered a safari which seemed to be a good price too. Rooms are pretty basic and semi-clean. Whilst owner was very nice and seemingly helpful, he did tell us that we could catch a train from Habarana to Trincomalee at 10am the day we left which we found out, after being dropped and left at station, that we definitely could not. The only train is at 3am. This was a bit frustrating.

We opted to stay near Habarana due to the easier travel links than Sigiriya. The hostel is on the main road between polonnoruwa and dambulla, at the junction for the sigiriya road. Great location for getting anywhere as the main bus from kandy / Colombo to the east crosses through. The homestay is quiet but friendly, and the young host happily gave us lifts to sigiriya and helped with our other transport plans! Also a short Tuk Tuk from Habanara station if youâ€™re getting the train from Colombo
