No more Power outages in THE LONG HOSTEL'
The Long Hostel is the most modern, most popular and largest Hostel in Arugam Bay!
The hostel has a 15.60 kWp solar system (see picture in gallery) which has been expanded with lithium batteries to store electricity. As such, we are the only 'Green' property in Arugam Bay which always provides electricity during power outages without running a diesel generator.

Despite the solar system, we have to switch off the air conditioning in the dorms after 11 a.m. due to strong power fluctuations, otherwise they would break down due to overheating. Due to this fact we had already to replace many motherboards at the A/Cs which are enormous costs. On request, individual air conditioners can be switched on after the room has been cleaned.
It's built in 2016 and offers accommodation for 42 guests.

Air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned dorms or private rooms with attached bathrooms and budget dorms with fans and common bathrooms. All beds in the dorms have a locker for each guest for the security of luggage.
The property has a coffee-shop offering European coffee, espresso, cappuccino and iced coffee. The hostel also offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, short dishes, drinking water, cool drinks and fruit juices. Laundry service is provided at this property. The bathrooms are all modern and cleaned daily. In the outdoor garden are hammocks, a few with a canopy. The hostel provides stands for surfboards to store them secure.
For the security of the guests, a CCTV system with recorder is equipped around the hostel. In the Lobby is a refrigerator for the food storage of our guests.

A game collection, tournament certified Carom Board, chess, game of cards and dice boards are available. The hostel also offers beach balls and Frisbees to take to the beach.
The beach, restaurants, surfboard hire and surf schools, scooter hire, ATM and supermarkets are all to find in short walking distance. We provide Tuk-Tuk services to all surf points around. The highlight of your stay in Sri Lanka might be a wild life Tuk-Tuk safari, which you can book by Mr. Nihar for very moderate prices. The Hostel stuff will give you more information and can help you with your booking.

The reception of the Hostel will be open daily from 7.00 am till 9.00 pm. From 9.00 pm till next morning 07.00 am is a night watchman on duty. Guest who arrive late in the night should send us a message that we can inform the night watchman.
