Welcome to Cape Capsules Backpackers an upmarket backpackers in capsule form - right opposite East Beach - Kite Surfing Beach of Muizenberg and close to lagoon (vlei) excellent for surfing and kite surfing. We are the only Hostel / Back Packers with a 3 star rating in Muizenberg ! We welcome young & old to come and enjoy the experience; this is home to all surfers and especially to all our foreign visitors from abroad and our locals. Each capsule is secure and lockable for privacy and security. We have unisex dorms = In dorm one we have 6 single capsules (4 of which are standard capsules and the other 2 extra length)- then in a second dorm we have 2 x 3/4 capsules for petite young partners/friends on a budget, and the other 2 x ¾ is for the larger person who needs more space. We have our Surfers Den which has one double bed and that is situated on our mezzanine floor, above the Pizzeria. We also have a family room which has one double bed and one single bed this room has its own sliding door which goes out to our terrace. All our bathrooms are shared - we supply you with shower gel and hair wash, double ply toilet paper and towels. We have linen in all capsules so no need for a sleeping bag. All bedding is hypo-allergenic. On arrival you will find your coffee/tea First Cup on us in your capsule/room. Thereafter you may use our coffee station; help yourself and add to your honesty bar account which you may also help yourself to eats and drinks and just write up your takings and we will cash you up in the morning.
We have a Pizzeria on site which operates in summer months other than that we have a self catering - clean yourself Bush Kitchen, with everything you need in a kitchen - except the food - you supply yourself.
All amenities is within walking distance as well as restaurants and pubs. Tours down False Bay where you can see the penguins at Boulders Beach or a trip down to Cape Point and much more.
Plenty to do close to restaurants - pubs and shopping centres - mini golf and waterslides - great swimming beach - great film locations - walking and cycling on promenade - hiking on Muizenberg Mountain - walking distance to other beaches and tidal pools on the catwalk.
Close to KalkBay and St. James Beach - walking distance.

Check in from 14:00 to 17:00. (Guests need to contact us to arrange a check in if arriving before or after the specific checkin time) AS WE ARE NOT ALWAYS AVAILABLE.
Check out from 09:30 to 10:00 (if you leave early morning pls advise reception).
Payment upon arrival by cash, credit cards, debit cards. If deposit is paid via card there will be a 9% card fee

We offer Surfing lessons for beginners various packages available.
We have bicycles, wetsuits - surfboards - boogie boards for daily rental. These prices you'll find n your Honest Bar Slips.

Recommend that you read the small print, lots of strange extra hidden charges as others have mentioned. Capsules are a good concept but unfortunately these where not constructed well , so be prepared to be woken up when your neighbor arrives back. But location is good.

Beware of MANDATORY FEES!!!!
This is the only hostel in the world that adds fees not included in the website price. It's cheaper to Uber to the beach from in town.
It feels like a doomsday prepper's holding compound for new arrivals. Here is your plywood cell. Here is your cage for your baggage. Here is one bathroom 10 people share. Not the modern pod-style you expect. Sleeping directly under couples' pod is disturbing. Mosquitos come through broken door at night and into pods.

Unexpected extra fees, manual locks and different codes through several doors to to get inside; quite secure but a complete fire hazard. Owners had a private party in the common area until late in the night. The “capsule†you sleep in is simply a plywood box with doors that doesn’t slide properly. Overall strange, bordering on rude, attitude from owners.
The only activities or event organization offered was surf classes, at least this and instructor John was good.
