Property Description
Located in a historic 1880's building in the center of the downtown Gaslamp Quarter, our hostel makes a statement with its double staircase and sunny, open atrium with a Victorian style that's a nod to the Wild West days. We'll tell you all about our building's infamous past as well as the ghost stories! It's just a step outside our door to the festive atmosphere of outdoor dining. And, every Thursday through Sunday the entire block becomes a walking avenue as well.
With our great weather year-round, San Diego is a great escape any time of year. We are minutes away from a great stroll to the waterfront or a ferry to Coronado Island's expansive white beach. The Padres stadium is a 10 minute walk and many other attractions are very nearby including the San Diego Zoo, Seaport Village, Midway Naval Museum and SeaWorld. Explore nearby neighborhoods and hiking trails or take tour of our myriad of microbreweries! We're also a short drive or bus ride from other beaches. You can rent scooters and bikes at a nearby stand and get out and explore the city!
While the building may be Victorian, our amenities are all modern including:
- Privacy panels on all dorm beds that include a light, shelf and outlets to charge your electronics!
- Community kitchen with lots of cookware
- Comfortable mattresses with fresh bedding, linen, pillows and towels
- Central air conditioning/heat and ceiling fans in all rooms
- Dorms have lockers with outlets inside for secure charging of electronics
- A variety of cereals and oatmeal, fruit salad, coffee, tea and hot chocolate daily
- Spa-feeling hallway bathrooms with hair dryers
- Fast wifi
- Filtered water dispenser
- Laundry
- Free luggage storage during stay
- Early check in and late check out (when available)

It is hard to miss the entrance but the welcome email shows a great identifying photo. Check in was easy at the desk. Bathroom/shower on my floor was clean, bunk bed conditions as expected. The neighborhood is loud on a Saturday night, but presumably thats what people are looking for booking in Gaslamp. Sound was mitigated enough with the window closed. Didn’t use the kitchen but looked large and well supplied to cook.

this is a really nice spot to stay and quite reasonably priced! The only thing to note that I was not warned about when I mentioned having quite a bit of luggage with me or in anything I read about the property, is that in order to reach the hostel, you have to first walk up a pretty large dlight of stairs. It's doable with a lot of luggage, but enough to have made me consider staying elsewhere had I known.
